ABC's eighth 'The Bachelor' edition to premiere on January 8

ABC has announced that the eighth edition of its long-running The Bachelor reality dating series will premiere Monday, January 9. But rather than airing in the 8PM ET/PT time period that ABC had originally announced when it first revealed its plans to delay its next edition of the reality franchise until midseason, The Bachelor 8 will now air at 10PM ET/PT.

Having already relocated its The Bachelor/Bachelorette franchise from California to New York City for the show's two most recent editions, ABC yesterday announced its latest attempt to recapture the ratings success of the now struggling series -- moving the show's filming location 4,000 miles further east, to Paris, France.

ABC announced today that its fading The Bachelor reality franchise will not be part of its Fall 2005 primetime schedule, but in a somewhat surprising move, the series will return in January 2006 after Monday Night Football wraps up its thirty-fifth and final year on the network.
