MTV has announced that the second season of Newlyweds: Nick & Jessica, the network's much talked about reality series which follows the celebrity marriage of former 98 Degrees singer Nick Lachey and "pop tart" Jessica Simpson, will premiere on Wednesday, January 21st at 10 PM ET/PT.

Susan Lyne, president, ABC Entertainment announced yesterday that Jessica Simpson, already the star of MTV's Newlyweds: Nick and Jessica unscripted television series, has entered into an additional development deal with ABC to star in a scripted comedy series. Ted Harbert and Joe Simpson (Jessica's domineering father and manager) are attached to the project as executive producers.
