Variety reports that ABC has finished casting -- and shooting -- its celeb edition of "The Mole." "The Mole 3" will star celebrities Michael Boatman (Carter on Spin City), Corbin Bernsen (Arnie on LA Law), Kim Coles (from Living Single), Erik von Detten (from Dinotopia), Baldwin brother Stephen Baldwin, comedian Kathy Griffin, and supermodel Frederique. Ahmad Rashad will be the host. The show quietly wrapped production earlier this month following nearly two weeks of on-location production in Hawaii. The six-part series is likely to air begin airing in January.
Angie Martinez has quit "American Idol 2" after only five days on the job. She issued a statement saying that it was "too uncomfortable for me to tell someone else to give up on their dream, especially when I realized that many of them have supported my musical career. I thank everyone at Fox for the opportunity and wish every contestant the best of luck."
Reuters reports that cable music network VH1 said on Wednesday that it has pulled the plug on a planned reality series featuring Minnelli and her new husband, producer David Gest.
Reuters reports that MTV has announced that the second seasion of "The Osbournes" will premiere on November 26th, kicking off a second season of MTV's highest-rated show. "We are excited to invite the world into our home for another dose of Osbourne insanity," Sharon Osbourne said in a statement issued by MTV. "This season the show takes on a whole new meaning as we share the highs and lows of the last six months with our viewers. With the Osbournes, you never know what you're gonna get."
Variety reports that UPN has given an eight-episode midseason order to an hourlong reality series tentatively titled "Supermodel," with Tyra Banks serving as an executive producer and judge.
With the addition of Angie Martinez has the new fourth judge for "American Idol 2," the New York Post reports that the rules of the game have changed slightly. With four judges instead of three, obviously the potential for a tie 2-2 vote exists. According to the Post, if the four judges come up with a split decision, judge Simon Cowell will get the final say.

Miramax Films & TV and LivePlanet have successfully whittled both the Screenplay and Director contests entries down to The Top 250 for each contest.

Zap2It.com reports that ABC has ordered a new unscripted show called "The Will" from producer Mike Fleiss, the man behind the network's hit "The Bachelor." On the new show, a wealthy (still living) benefactor will offer up his or her estate to family members. But instead of tedious probate-court hearings, the potential heirs will compete for the goods and have the chance to vote others out. Family members and friends who take part in the series will also be put through a series of weekly competitions, in which the players will vie for a shot at some smaller portion of the benefactor's estate -- the BMW or the vacation house.
Reuters reports that E! Entertainment Television has announced that despite faltering ratings, it has renewed its controversial reality series featuring former Playboy Playmate Anna Nicole Smith for a second season. The show, which premiered last August, has been a hit for the cable network, helping to boost its overall ratings among adults aged 18 to 49, the key advertising demographic, by 19 percent over a year earlier.
Variety reports that New York-based radio personality and recording artist Angie Martinez is close to signing on as the fourth judge on Fox's upcoming "American Idol" sequel. Martinez, who hosts afternoon drive on New York's WQHT-FM, "Hot 97," joins returning judges Simon Cowell, who re-inked earlier this summer, and Paula Abdul and Randy Jackson, both of whom re-enlisted last week.

The WB brings a diverse group of some of America's best-remembered pop culture figures back to television audiences in a half-hour comedy/reality series, THE SURREAL LIFE. From the producers of "Blind Date," the celebrity cast includes actors from past hit series, a former child star, two musical stars, and a beauty queen, and one star of the hit series "Survivor II." This unlikely group of housemates moved in together on Monday, October 21 and will share a fun and funky house in the Hollywood Hills for ten days.

MTV sadly reports that Michelle Parma, the former Dallas Cowboys cheerleader who graced the third season of "Road Rules," was killed Saturday afternoon in a three-vehicle collision. She was 27.
CBS has announced that, according to final Nielsen ratings for Wednesday, October 16th, "The Amazing Race 3" posted increases in households, viewers, adults 18-49 and adults 25-54 versus last week and last year, The episode finished third in its time slot, after NBC's "The West Wing" and ABC's "The Bachelor."

Reuters reports that USA Network has announced a nationwide search for the next great country music artist, with open auditions for "Nashville Star" kicking off in Nashville on Tuesday, Oct. 22, at the Country Music Hall of Fame and Museum.
Variety reports that Fox has confirmed that the next version of "American Idol" will welcome a fourth judge, who will "add a different and unique perspective" to the group. No additional details were revealed.

CTV has announced it's bringing a Canadian version of "American Idol" to Canada in a new series that will make its debut in 2003. The completely Canadian series will be based on its smash-hit cousin, "American Idol: The Search for a Superstar." The September 4th finale of "American Idol" was the most watched show of the summer when 2.1 million Canadian viewers tuned in to watch.

MTV.com reports that "American Idol" finalist Tamyra Gray, a 23-year-old from Takoma Park, Maryland, has signed with 19 Recordings Limited, the label run by "American Idol"'s other Simon, creator Simon Fuller. She had earlier inked a management deal with Fuller just after her exit from the show.

Marc Portugal, a Palms employee who supervised the cast of MTV's The Real World: Las Vegas at the nightclub that they worked in during their stay at the Las Vegas casino resort, was dismissed after the reality show aired allegations of sexual harassment by Portugal, The Las Vegas Review-Journal reported Sunday.

ABC has announced that Emmy-Award winning sportscaster and former NFL all-pro wide receiver Ahmad Rashad has signed on to host ABC's upcoming celebrity version of "The Mole," it was announced today. "Celebrity Mole" is set to air on ABC later this season.
Anthony Vanchieri, the "Temptation Island 2" male tempter and elementary school teacher who appeared in gay pornographic videos, has abandoned his fight to keep his job. Vanchieri quietly resigned on September 9th, but it was made public only this month because the Broward School Board in Florida will formally accept his request on October 15th.
Entertainment Weekly recently reported that CBS CEO Leslie Moonves is working on an all-star ''Big Brother'' to air as early as October. He hopes to feature higher-watt personalities than, say, Barry Williams or Danny Bonaduce (who both appeared on Fox's ''Celebrity Boxing'' special last season).

Amazingly enough, some people noticed Kel Gleason during his brief, controversial stay on Survivor: The Australian Outback. Even more amazingly, they saw enough of him to REALLY not like him.
The Milwaukee Journal Sentinel reports that it's not official yet, but it looks like ABC's "Push, Nevada" will disappear from the ABC programming schedule after the Thursday, October 10th episode. In doing so, "Push" would become the first casualty of the Fall 2002 network television season.

Variety reports that Anderson Cooper, CNN newsman-anchor and also host of both series of "The Mole", has been forced to end his ties with the reality TV series under pressure from his new bosses at CNN. According to Variety, Cooper, arguably one of the two best hosts in reality TV along with Survivor's Jeff Probst, was told that, if he chose to return to "The Mole" 3 and 4, his continuing high-profile role on CNN might be jeopardized. At the time Cooper left ABC News to join CNN, "The Mole" seemed to be dead, but the show's surprisingly-successful revival over the summer brought the conflict back to life.

The Outdoor Life Network has released the complete regular airtime schedule for "No Boundaries." New episodes of the program will air Mondays at 8PM ET. Each episode will then repeat at 11PM ET Monday evenings as well as 2PM ET of the following Sunday.
