After a less-than-compelling family edition, The Amazing Race returned to its standard two-member team, race-around-the-world format for its ninth edition that premiered Tuesday night. The debut featured The Amazing Race 9 racers John Lowe and Scott Braginton-Smith overcoming John's fear of flying, however not even the duo's "genie power" could help them overcome a cab ride to nowhere, causing them to become the first team eliminated from the Race.

A week after it announced The Amazing Race 9 would premiere on February 28 and, following its special two-hour premiere, regularly air in the Tuesdays at 9PM ET/PT time period that the reality series has occupied since The Amazing Race 6, CBS has reversed course, deciding instead to make the Tuesdays at 10PM ET/PT hour the show's new regular time period.

CBS has revealed the identities of the eleven teams who will be competing on The Amazing Race 9, the new edition of its three-time Emmy Award-winning reality adventure series that will debut with a special two-hour premiere on Tuesday, February 28 at 9PM ET/PT.

Bringing a boring end to a boring season, The Amazing Race: Family Edition's two-hour finale delivered the reality show's lowest finale ratings since the Summer 2003 The Amazing Race 4 edition that, if not for the show's subsequent first Emmy award win, had been speculated to be the series' last edition.

Just as an online gambling website revealed back in September, last night's broadcast of The Amazing Race: Family Edition's season finale ended with the Linz siblings crossing the finish line first and claiming the competition's $1,000,000 grand prize. Close behind them in second place were the Bransen family, with the Weaver family finishing third.

Just in case viewers haven't been bored enough by this season's disappointing family edition of The Amazing Race, CBS has announced that for the first time ever, the reality show's second and third place finishers will compete in a special "bonus mini-race" in which one of the teams will win a 2006 GMC Yukon XL vehicle.
