In a development that would add more fire to the growing criticism that American Idol's judges and producers have gone too far with their ridicule of some of the show's less talented contestants, it appears that Jonathan Jayne, one of the contestants who was mocked during Wednesday night's broadcast of the show's sixth season Seattle auditions, is a Special Olympics participant.

While he'd much rather have his name mentioned in the same breath as former American Idol winners Kelly Clarkson, Carrie Underwood and Taylor Hicks, it looks like Thomas Daniels is more likely to be compared to Terrell and Derrell Brittenum, Donnie Williams and Corey Clark.

Last night's broadcast of Fox's American Idol 6 auditions from Seattle, WA saw some of the worst contestants ever to try out for the reality competition, but it still delivered the smash-hit reality show's highest rated Wednesday premiere numbers ever among total viewers and the Adults 18-49 and Adults 18-34 demographics.

American Idol's return received a tremendous reception from viewers last night, with 37.3 million sets of eyes watching. If ratings results from the premiere are any indication, the Fox mega-hit ratings juggernaut should continue to steamroll the competition during its sixth season.
