The Trouble with Bliss (formerly titled East Fifth Bliss) is an American drama film released on March 23, 2012 in the United States.

Plot

Morris Bliss, aged 35, wants to travel but he has no money. He needs to find a job but has no prospects. Bliss still shares an apartment with his widowed father and the premature death of his mother is still present and has left him emotionally "walled up". He finds himself in an odd relationship with the 18-year-old daughter of a former classmate. This is followed up by Morris discovering his static life unraveling and opening up.

Box office performance

According to Box Office Mojo, The Trouble with Bliss opening weekend gross was $4,618. The film has made $13,093 as of April 26, 2012.

Critical response

The film scored a meager 25% based on 16 reviews from Rotten Tomatoes. The audience however, scored the films a "Fresh" 79% rating. Metacritic scored the film a "generally unfavorable" aggregation of 38 out of 100.

Accolades

The Trouble with Bliss won Best Narrative Feature at the 2011 San Diego Film Festival. It was the opening night film at the 2011 Naples International Film Festival and the 2011 Newport Beach Film Festival.

The film was also nominated for Best Picture and Best Editing at the 2011 Woodstock Film Festival.
