Ain't Them Bodies Saints is a 2013 American romantic crime drama film written and directed by David Lowery. The film follows an outlaw who escapes from prison and sets out across the Texas hills to reunite with his wife and the daughter he has never met. The film stars Casey Affleck as Bob Muldoon and Rooney Mara as Ruth Guthrie.

The film debuted at the 2013 Sundance Film Festival, where it won the Cinematography Award in the U.S. Dramatic Category and nominated for the Grand Jury Prize.

It has been selected to compete in the International Critics' Week section at the 2013 Cannes Film Festival. The film was released in theaters on August 16, 2013.

Plot

A notorious outlaw, Bob Muldoon, breaks out of prison to reunite with his wife and the daughter he has never met. Muldoon and Ruth Guthrie were on the run when their crime spree came to a sudden end. A local officer lay critically wounded by Guthrie, however, Muldoon claims responsibility for the shot, and receives a stiff prison sentence. Unable to bear being away from his wife and daughter any longer, he makes a daring escape, and flees to be with them at any cost.

The general consensus is "While conventional in plot, Ain't Them Bodies Saints is a visually poetic film that pays homage to the New Hollywood directors of the 1970s and promises big things from director David Lowery."
