Adam Rothenberg Biography

Adam Rothenberg is an American film and television actor.

Early life

Adam Rothenberg was born to Gillian and Kenneth Rothenberg in Tenafly, New Jersey June 20, 1975. He is of Jewish ancestry on his father's side and has six siblings.

In a 2008 interview with People Magazine, Rothenberg discussed his work before turning to acting: "I was a garbage man and was a fact-checker for Mademoiselle. The worst was as a security guard: gruesome 12-hour shifts in front of an elevator."

According to TV Guide's 'Fast Facts', Rothenberg trained at The Acting Studio, Inc. - New York in New York City where he performed numerous roles with Chelsea Repertory Company & LAB, and served in the Army for two years (1996"97) in Germany. The Chicago Tribune also discussed Rothenberg's army experience, describing him as "a college dropout who enlisted in the Army and served with an anti-aircraft unit in Germany", pointing out how this equipped him to deal with the role of Stanley in A Streetcar Named Desire (2004).

Career

Rothenberg's acting performances have been varied, with a mix of TV and Film and theatre work.

In New York, Rothenberg has starred in many off-broadway shows. These include the lead in Second Stage's revival of Danny and the Deep Blue Sea (2004) , as well as his critically acclaimed role in The Women's Project's Birdy (2003). In 2006, Rothenberg played the Scottish storyteller "Chimney Bosch" in the MCC Theater's The Wooden Breeks, directed by Trip Cullman. Outside of New York, Rothenberg starred opposite Patricia Clarkson as 'Stanley Kowalski' in A Streetcar Named Desire at the Kennedy Center's Tennessee Williams Festival (2004) . At the Williamstown Theatre Festival he has starred as 'Lord Darlington' in Lady Windermere's Fan , directed by Moises Kaufman (2005), as 'Doug' in Alexandra Gersten-Vassilaros's Mother of Invention, directed by Nicholas Martin (2003), and, more recently, as Krogstad in A Doll's House (2011). Rothenberg starred in The Mark Taper Forum's 2011 production of Burn This. Other theatre performances include: Finder's Fee (Edinburgh Fringe Festival) , A Steady Rain, The Center of Gravity, Mad Forest, I'm Really Here and Almost Like Being.

In his screen work, Adam Rothenberg filmed one of the lead roles in Fox's television unaired pilot Damages and he was also one of the leads in the half-hour comedy Misconceptions, which too did not air. He appeared in a recurring role in the television series The Ex List (2008, 13 episodes). His other screen appearances include:
