  • 'Survivor' juror Colleen Haskell moves into reality-show production

    The Washington Post reports that Survivor: Pulau Tiga contestant Colleen Haskell is pursuing a new career as an entry-level associate producer of ... a reality-TV show. Colleen, who attempted an acting career but gave up after her role as Rob Schneider's love interest in The Animal, has signed on with former Survivor: Pulau Tiga line producer Kevin Greene, who is now the executive producer of E!'s upcoming The Michael Essany Show (Michael Essany is little more than a real-life Wayne from Wayne's World, hosting his own cable-access talk show from his parents' home -- except in Indiana, not neighboring Illinois; the show is an Osbournes-style look at his life and TV show.)

    In response to a lawsuit filed by Ruben Studdard, the winner of the second edition of Fox's American Idol, the owners of Birmingham, Alabama clothing maker 205 Flava, Inc. have made explosive allegations about secret payoffs to Ruben. The Birmingham News reports that 205 Flava owners Willie and Frederick Jenkins allege that they paid Ruben at least $1,000 per week to wear their 205 jerseys, a clear violation of Idol rules if true.
  • NBA launches playoff-oriented reality series on NBA TV

    Can't get enough of the NBA playoffs? NBA TV has the perfect answer for you. According to Hollywood Reporter, the network, which generally airs only on DirecTV and Dish Network, is launching an eight-episode, half-hour show focusing on one player from each of the 16 playoff teams. Among the players featured, on and off the court, are Kevin Garnett of the Minnesota Timberwolves and Robert Horry of the LA Lakers. The first episode will air at 6 PM EDT on Tuesday, April 29.

    The Hollywood Reporter reports that the Sci-Fi Channel is getting into TV's hidden-camera reality game show business with "Scare Tactics," a half-hour show hosted by "Beverly Hills, 90210" alumna Shannen Doherty to launch in the fall. The show will secretly film pranks inspired by sci-fi movies with setups that will run the gamut from haunted houses to alien abductions.
