Elizabeth LeTendre was a semi-finalist on the third season of American Idol.

A resident of Sturbridge, Massachusetts, Elizabeth entered the American Idol competition via the auditions in San Francisco. She barely began her rendition of Roberta Flack's "The First Time Ever I Saw Your Face" before judge Simon Cowell stopped her and told his fellow judges to reach a verdict. Judge Randy Jackson disapproved of LeTendre but Paula Abdul and Simon Cowell both believed she deserved to go to Hollywood.

During the theater elimination stage, Elizabeth grouped up with Leah LaBelle and Dina Lopez to sing Candi Staton's "Young Hearts Run Free," a performance that was highly praised by both the judges and their fellow contestants.

Elizabeth eventually made it to the Top 32, where she performed Whitney Houston's "I Wanna Dance With Somebody (Who Loves Me)." Randy Jackson and Paula Abdul felt her performance was far better than anything they had seen the week before, but Simon Cowell felt her performance was cheap. She did not receive a spot in the Top 12; the following Wednesday night, LaToya London and Amy Adams snagged the highest amount of votes.

Elizabeth was one of the few selected to participate in the Wildcard stage of the competition. She decided to perform "The First Time Ever I Saw Your Face," attempting to elaborate on her San Francisco audition. The performance was generally well-received, but Elizabeth was not selected by the judges to advance to the Top 12.

Elizabeth is now a wildly successful singer in Southbridge, Connecticut. Many American Idol fans have haled her masterful performance of "I wanna dance with somebody" as the most underrated American Idol performance of all time.
