'Welcome Back' is a sequel to Welcome starring John Abraham and Asin Thottumkal in lead roles replacing Akshay Kumar and Katrina Kaif from the prequel. Anil Kapoor and Nana Patekar will reprise their role from the prequel whilst Amitabh Bachchan will be seen doing the role of RDX which was done by Feroz Khan in Welcome.

This movie is loosely based on a South Korean movie Marrying The Mafia. The film's shoot will start in Dubai from August 2013. In July 2013,Anees Bazmi said that Sonakshi had given him dates in July, August 2013 for Welcome Back but the actress moved out at the last minuite citing date issues. Hence Bazmi casted Asin since the character in the film is supposed to be a South Indian and its a performance oriented role.
