CBS announces 'The Amazing Race 10' will premiere September 17

CBS has announced that The Amazing Race 10, the tenth edition of its three-time Emmy-winning The Amazing Race reality series, will premiere Sunday, September 17 at 8:30PM ET/PT with a special 90-minute episode. Subsequent episodes will air in the show's previously announced new Sunday 8-9PM ET/PT time period.

CBS has revealed the identities of the twelve teams -- the most teams in six editions -- that will compete on The Amazing Race 10, the tenth The Amazing Race edition that will air as part of the network's new Fall 2006 Sunday night lineup.

Becoming the latest reality TV couple to follow in the footsteps of former Survivor and The Amazing Race contestants Amber Brkich and Rob Mariano, Ray Whitty and Yolanda Brown-Moore, who finished third in Wednesday night's broadcast of The Amazing Race 9's finale, got engaged on live television during their Thursday morning appearance on CBS's The Early Show program.

After racing across five continents, through nine countries, and for more than 59,000 miles, The Amazing Race 9's final three teams ended up right back where they had started, where hippies BJ Averell and Tyler Macniven were able to outwit, outplay, and outlast (sorry, wrong show) "frat boys" Eric Sanchez and Jeremy Ryan and long-distance daters Yolanda Brown-Moore and Ray Whitty to cross the finish line first and win the show's $1,000,000 grand prize.
'The Amazing Race 9' BJ Averell and Tyler Macniven last but still alive

For the second straight leg, BJ Averell and Tyler Macniven barely escaped elimination from The Amazing Race 9. After finishing next to last in the previous The Amazing Race leg, the hippies struggled through a sweltering hot roadblock and were the last team to check in at the Pit Stop, only to learn that the leg was a non-elimination leg, allowing them to survive to race another day.
