    Ryan Seacrest will help ring in the New Year when he returns for a second year to host the 90-minute music spectacular featuring previously announced performances from Ashanti, Metallica, Puddle of Mudd, Hootie and the Blowfish, Keith Urban, DJ Funkmaster Flex and rap artists Westside Connection on America's Party, airing live from the Venetian Resort Hotel-Casino Las Vegas on Wednesday, December 31 live from 11:00 PM -12:30 AM ET (tape delayed elsewhere.)

  • 'American Idol' finalist Kimberly Locke signs with Curb Records

    Could the third time be a charm? Billboard reports that Kimberly Locke, who placed third on Fox's American Idol 2 this spring, will now become the third finalist to receive a recording contract. Kimberly has been signed by Nashville-based Curb Records and will once again compete with Idol winner Ruben Studdard and runner-up Clay Aiken ... although now the battle will shift to the marketplace.

    All good things must come to an end, and that includes American Idol runner-up Clay Aiken's streak with the #1 single on the Nielsen SoundScan U.S. Singles Sales chart. E! Online reports that Hilary Duff's single "So Yesterday," which had narrowly been #2 in both of its first two weeks of release, bumped Clay's "Bridge Over Troubled Water" / "This Is The Night" out of the top slot for the week ended August 17, 2003.
