Kian Lawley Biography

Kian Robert Lawley (born September 2, 1995) is an American YouTuber and Daytime Emmy nominated actor. Lawley shares a YouTube channel with a friend, actor, and fellow YouTuber Jc Caylen. Lawley also co-stars in the Fullscreen series H8TERS, alongside Caylen, which was released in April 2017.

Biography

Kian Robert Lawley was born on September 2, 1995, in Sioux City, Iowa. Then at a young age, his family moved to San Clemente, California, where he would grow up and meet his best friend, Sam Pottorff. They soon would create a YouTube channel, SuperKian13, which is now simply titled "Kian Lawley".

Lawley launched his first channel in 2010, under the name superkian13. Lawley also had a collaborative channel with Pottorff in 2011, named kiansam13.

He was a part of a collaborative channel Our2ndLife (commonly known as O2L) along with Jc Caylen, Ricky Dillon, Trevor Moran, Connor Franta, and best friend Sam Pottorff, before they separated in December 2014. He and Caylen launched their collaborative channel KianAndJc in January 2015. "KianAndJc" now has over 3 million subscribers (as of March 2018).

Acting career

In summer 2015, he starred as Cameron in his first film, The Chosen. The film premiered at the 2015 VidCon convention. At the 2015 Teen Choice Awards, Lawley won the award for Choice YouTuber.

In 2016, he co-starred with Bella Thorne in the comedy Shovel Buddies. In March 2016, the film was selected and premiered at SXSW Festival. Lawley also played "Bean Boy" in the 2016 Tyler Perry comedy Boo! A Madea Halloween, along with Jc Caylen.

In January 2017, Lawley announced his new show H8TERS with Caylen. Also that year, he appeared alongside Zoey Deutch, Halston Sage, and Logan Miller in the film Before I Fall, for which he won the award for Choice Movie Actor: Drama at the 2017 Teen Choice Awards.

In 2018 Kian is nominated for a daytime emmy award.

Personal life

Lawley has four siblings, named Isabelle, Reo, Cole and Tabatha. He was in a relationship with fellow YouTube star Andrea Russett, but the couple broke up in mid-2014. He was later in a relationship with model Meredith Mickelson in 2017; they separated after a couple months of being together.

Controversy

On February 5, 2018, it was announced that Lawley had been fired from The Hate U Give due to a resurfaced video showing Lawley using racially offensive slurs, resulting in his role to be recast and scenes reshot with Riverdale star KJ Apa. He also apologized on Twitter and then on a YouTube video named after the date of its publication "2/25/18" in which he also talks about how he realized that he has a voice, with which he can speak and inspire millions of people who follow him on social media He was subsequently dropped by talent agency CAA following revelations of the video.
