For the People is an upcoming American legal drama that is set to air on ABC on the 2017-18 season.

Premise

Set in the Southern District of New York (SDNY) Federal Court, also known as "The Mother Court," For the People follows brand new lawyers working for both the defense and the prosecution as they handle the most high-profile and high-stakes cases in the country - all as their personal lives intersect.

Production

In the pilot, Britne Oldford was cast as Sandra Black (Bell) and Lyndon Smith was cast as Allison Anderson. However both roles were recast with other actresses. After reshooting the pilot with the two new actresses replacing Oldford and Smith, Britt Robertson and Jasmin Savoy Brown respectively, and having already shot the second episode, production on the show was temporarily shut down in mid-September 2017, in order to rewrite existing scripts for the rest of the season to adjust the show to Robertson and Brown's new dynamic.
