Edward Charles Egerton "Ed" Weeks (born 25 October 1980 in Banbury, England) is an English actor, comedian, writer and producer. He plays Dr. Jeremy Reed on the Fox (now Hulu) comedy series The Mindy Project.

Early life and career

Weeks's mother is a native of El Salvador, although Weeks was born and raised in England.

Weeks was educated at Queen's College, Taunton and Trinity College, Cambridge, where he was President of the Cambridge Footlights. Upon graduating, he wrote for various TV shows, including Man Stroke Woman, Clone and Hotel Trubble (all BBC).

As an actor, he appeared in My Family (BBC), The IT Crowd (Channel 4), Not Going Out (BBC) and Phoo Action (BBC) in which he played Prince William. He was Olivia Lee's sidekick and co-prankster on her Comedy Central hidden camera show Dirty Sexy Funny.

U.S.

In 2011, Weeks moved to Los Angeles, whereupon he sold an original pilot to CBS. In 2012, he was one of the first regular roles cast in The Mindy Project, a comedy pilot from The Office's Mindy Kaling.

The show was picked up to series by Fox in May 2012. In May 2015 it was confirmed that The Mindy Project would be moving to Hulu. In September 2016, as part of a syndication deal, all seasons of the series will be aired VH1 and Freeform as well as being available for streaming on Hulu.

In 2015 Weeks guest-starred as a pretentious method actor on the USA Network series Royal Pains. The same year, he appeared in the film The Leisure Class, produced by Matt Damon and Ben Affleck, whose production was shown in the HBO reality television show Project Greenlight.

In November 2015, ABC bought the rights to a comedy series that Weeks co-wrote with Hannah Mackay (former writer on Peep Show) and ordered a pilot. In November 2016, it was revealed that Weeks, Mackay and Mindy Kaling would executive produce the show and that ABC had given script commitment and penalty to the untitled series. The untitled single-camera comedy centers on liberal lesbian couple Laurel and Marisa who move with their teenage son to Laurel"?s conservative hometown in Kansas to find that their assumptions about Middle America might just be wrong

Personal life

Weeks met American actress Bellamy Young in January 2016 at the screening of a mutual friend's film and the two began dating shortly after. Weeks supports shelter adoption and in September 2016, adopted a senior dog named Arthur. Weeks resides in Los Angeles.
