Colette Mary Carr (born January 6, 1991), known as Colette Carr is an American musician based in Malibu and Los Angeles, California. She is signed to Cherrytree Records. Carr released her debut single, "Back It Up", in 2009. On August 13, 2010, she released her first mixtape, "Sex Sells Stay Tooned". Her debut album, Skitszo, was released on July 9, 2013. The lead single "(We Do It) Primo" was released on May 11, 2011, and a promotional single "Sex (feat. New Boyz) was released on December 13, 2011. The second single, "Like I Got A Gun", was released on June 26, 2012.

She also hosts her own radio show on Cherrytree Radio, titled "Colette Carr Pool Live." Besides her music career, Carr also owns and manages her clothing brand, "Coca-Nico" with her sister Nicole Tara Carr.

Career

Beginnings

Carr had always loved music growing up. "I was obsessed with music growing up. I had my walkman on 24/7. I would write lyrics and song titles all over my walls in sharpie. I was extremely consumed," said Carr. Carr originally was a competitive tennis player, until an injury involving her back led her to be unable to play anymore. "I was either going to become paralyzed and continue playing or stop and find a new destination for myself," says Carr.

2009"10: Career beginnings

Carr was discovered at a Game concert. While waiting for him to arrive, the host, comedian Stroy Moyd, asked the audience if anyone could freestyle. Carr got on stage and free-styled while the crowd waited for the Game to show up. The fans reacted positively, screaming "Go white girl,", and Colette "fell in love" with performing. After the show, she met with various producers, including The Cataracs, who produced various songs for her. In 2009, Carr released her debut single, "Back It Up". The song quickly became a viral success, with its music video, directed by Richie Mac, earning more than 465,000 views on MTV Music and becoming one of mtvU's top 10 videos of the week. Carr then caught the attention of Nick Cannon, who signed her to his N'crediable Records. In 2010,Carr released a video for the song "Bitch Like Me", directed by Jonathan Singer-Vine. It was released as a promotional single. On March 28, 2010 Carr performed at the 2010 Bamboozle in California. Also in 2010, she released her first mix-tape "Sex Sells Stay Tooned". It gained over 100,000 downloads in its first year. In 2010 Carr designed the brand, "Coca-Nico". The brand designs different clothing and accessories, including hats, scarves, wallets, handbags, luggage, umbrellas, backpacks, jewelry, and more. The first "Coca-Nico" store opened in December 11, 2010 in San Francisco, and the second store opened in March 2012 in Las Vegas.

2011"present: Skitszo

Carr's debut album, Skitszo, was officially released July 9, 2013. Fans who preordered the album were able to download the tracks much earlier, and most of the tracks were available on music streaming sites such as Spotify or iTunes before the official album release, as four digital EPs from the album were released during the prior eight months. Pertaining to this, Colette said she was "releasing her music as fast as she could make it." She mentioned in an interview that "Skitszo" is a tribute to her schizophrenic uncle Robin. The first single "(We Do It) Primo" was released on May 11, 2011. The song led to Carr reaching the number-one spot on Billboards Uncharted Artists chart. Carr was also featured on Frankmusik's single "No I.D." from his second album Do It in the AM. Her promotional single off "Skitszo", "Sex" (feat. New Boyz), was released on December 13, 2011. In April 2012, Carr released a song called "F16" on Sound Cloud and YouTube. The song was produced by Frankmusik. It is expected to be on her upcoming album. In May 2012 Carr collaborated with the Peruvian band, Adammo, for their new album called Tiempos Violentos. She had a featured part on their song, "Caminando (Canciones Del Ayer)".

Carr released her second single off Skitszo, "Like I Got A Gun", on Sound Cloud on June 1, and it premiered on Cherrytree Radio the same day. Carr released "Like I Got A Gun" on iTunes on 26 June 2012 and issued the music video on the same day. In August 2012, Carr collaborated with singer The Lady Tigra for her album called S.P.O.R.K!. She had a featured part on her song, "Pick Your Boogie". The track "Told You So" was recorded in collaboration with American singer Porcelain Black. Colette also collaborated with The Good Natured and released a song called "Christmas Wrapping". The music video for the third single from Skitszo "F16" was released December 11, 2012. The fourth single "Why Are You Leaving?" featuring Far East Movement's Kev Nish was released on January 8, 2013 as a part of "Skitszo (Part 2)". The music video for "Why Are You Leaving?" was released on January 24, 2013. The sixth single is called "Never Gonna Happen" and was issued as a part of "Skitszo (Part 3)" on March 5, 2013 and the music video was released on her VEVO channel on April 5, 2013.

Carr is planning on released her second mixtape called Going, Going HAM, sometime during 2013. She issued a track from the mixtape, via Sound Cloud called "Ham" which features Ben J from Hip Hip duo New Boyz and is produced and written by Nate Walka and Jon Redwine. On September 13, 2013 Carr released the music video for 'HAM'.

Carr has stated in various interviews that her influences include Baris Mancho, Led Zeppelin, Jimi Hendrix, The Cure, Dr. Dre, Biggie, 2Pac, Wu-Tang Clan, Eminem, Snoop Dogg and Britney Spears.
