Camila Cabello Biography

Karla Camila Cabello (born March 3, 1997), commonly referred to as Camila Cabello, is a Cuban-born American singer who is a member of a girl group Fifth Harmony. She is a Miami, Florida native. She auditioned for The X-Factor back in 2012, as a solo act in Greensboro, North Carolina. She is also known for having the most distinctive voice of the group.

Early Life

Camila Cabello was born in Cojimar, Cuba, to Sinuhe Cabello, who is of Cuban descent, and Alejandro Cabello, who is of Mexican descent. She also has a younger sister named Sofia. Camila moved to the United States when she was six years old, growing up in Miami, Florida. She also went to Miami Palmetto High School. In the past, she did a cover of Skyscraper by Demi Lovato on Youtube. Her mother, Sinuhe, said that instead of a traditional quinceanera party, she wanted to audition for the X-Factor.

The X-Factor

Audition

As Cabello auditioned for The X-Factor back in 2012, she sang the song "Respect" by Aretha Franklin, which became a successful audition by gaining positive feedback from the judges, and eventually going to Bootcamp. Although her audition wasn't aired, it's been said that X-Factor judge Demi Lovato have stated that her voice was amazing but she said that she was better off singing pop music for bootcamp because her voice didn't suit the R&B/Soul sound, in her opinion.

Bootcamp

Cabello performed Amy Winehouse's Back to Black during the first round of bootcamp. On her second bootcamp, she performed the song Your Song by Elton John with contestant Jordan Shane. It was unsuccessful and was eventually eliminated from the competition. The judges later brought her back to the stage, along with many other acts, to be placed in a new girl group.

Personal Life

Cabello is fluent in both Spanish and English. She grow up listening multiple Latin music artists such as Celia Cruz and Alejandro Sanz. She stated that Demi Lovato is one of her musical influences and she sees her as a role model. She is fan of Ed Sheeran's music. She also lived in Mexico, briefly before she moved to the United States.
