Arash Aramesh Biography

Arash Ari Aramesh (born April 19, 1984) is an American lawyer, political commentator, and national security and foreign policy analyst. Aramesh is known for his frequent appearances on Fox News, BBC News, MSNBC, and Sky News. A California native, Aramesh resides in Houston, Texas where he practices law.

Early life

Aramesh was born in Tehran, Iran to a secular family. His father, Dr. Bozorg Aramesh, was a physician, an epidemiologist, and a university professor. His mother Amirtaji is a retired teacher and educator. Aramesh became a Permanent Resident of the United States at age 11. The same year, Aramesh lost his father to a stroke.

Education

Following graduation from Westlake High School in Westlake Village, California, Aramesh enrolled in Moorpark College, a local community college near his hometown of Thousand Oaks, CA. Soon, Aramesh transferred to the University of California, Berkeley. At Berkeley, Aramesh earned two bachelor degrees, one in Political Science and another in Middle Eastern Studies. Aramesh undertook studying Arabic literature while mastering the Persian language in an effort to become fluent in critical languages of the Middle East.

After graduating from UC Berkeley in 2007, Aramesh moved back to Thousand Oaks and applied to the London School of Economics and Political Science for a graduate program in Comparative Politics an Conflict Studies. In September 2008, Aramesh left Thousand Oaks once again to attend LSE. Aramesh graduated from LSE with a master of science degree with merit. Following graduation, he moved to Washington, D.C., to work at The Century Foundation as an Associate of the Iran Program.

Next, he attended Stanford Law School, where he served as Member Editor and Article Selection Committee Member of the Stanford Journal of International Law. While at Stanford, he worked as a teaching assistant to former Secretary of Defense, William Perry, and former Director of Los Alamos National Laboratory, Sig Hecker. He also was a director of Stanford Law School's Afghanistan Legal Education Project.

Career

Prior to practicing law, Ari co-founded a successful physician placement company.
