Road Rules 2007: Viewer's Revenge (Courtesy Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia)

Road Rules: Viewer's Revenge is the 14th season of MTV's reality television series, Road Rules. The season premiered on January 30, 2007 at 9pm EST/PST. The cast is made up of six former Road Rulers picked by fans on the MTV website before filming. This is the first MTV reality show to be filmed and then aired in near real time with input from viewers at home.

The casts drove around the state of California competing in various missions. Each mission earned a prize of $10,000 to be pooled and split by the six cast members who made it to the finale. In addition to the cash prize, individual cast members would win a Mazda 3.

This season brought several changes. The cast was given money and filming was not done on a ongoing schedule. This season also included new sponsorships from Wendy's and Mazda.

Production details

In 2004, after its 13th season had wrapped, the show had not been renewed by MTV and the production company of Road Rules, officially stated that the show was "on hiatus". For the better part of two years, Bunim/Murray Productions lobbied to have the show's contract renewed, failing twice. Ultimately in 2006, Bunim-Murray Productions had announced that they were re-tooling the show to include an "interactive" portion of the series as part of a new section of their company. In late 2006, MTV announced they were picking up the series once again, resulting in Viewer's Revenge.

The Game

Rules

Rather than embarking on their trip several months before the air date, this show is being filmed and then broadcast in near real time. Cast members will only have the opportunity to compete in missions and nominate cast members for elimination. Viewers at home will be able to decide most other elements of the game from the MTV website.

The rules of Viewer's Revenge state after each mission, the group nominates one male and one female. The three male cast members are responsible for nominating the female. The three female cast members are responsible for nominating the male. Then viewers at home choose who, of those two people, will have to go into an elimination face-off. If they lose the face-off, the cast member will be replaced by one of the eight-member "Pit Crew." The replacement will be voted on by internet visitors to the MTV.com website. Voted off cast members are eligible to come back on the RV. After a cast member is voted off, they go back to the "Pit Crew".

Also, if the group loses two missions in a row, they must nominate two males and two females for an elimination face-off.

On episode three, due to Abram getting kicked off, it was announced only one castmember would be placed in the elimination pit, so long as the Roadies win their mission. If they lose their mission, they have to nominate two castmembers to the elimination pit.

Mission Objective: Each pair has to survive a bungee jump while strapped into a car. When the rope stops retracting, the teams have to unbuckle their seatbelts, get three luggage pieces from the back, and drop them into the lake below. Then the pairs have to take the luggage across the finish line and have a cumulative team time of 5:00. Times:

Mission Objective: The team has to act as rescuers and victims in this mission. The four rescuers have to rescue the two victims in a channel and prevent them from getting sucked out to sea. If they succeed, the team banks $10,000. Heats

Drew Bell, the roadmaster, velcroed their right hands together, and they had to rip tags off each other's backs using only their left hand.

Kina wins, then Angel calls her a transvestite, which started a huge argument between the 2. Drew asked them to shake hands and they did, reluctantly.

Kina was excited that she and her makeup were going back on the RV.

• Road Rules was put on the shelf for three years before being resurrected for this season. Producers never knew if the show was cancelled or would really eventually be brought back.

• A Launch Special aired at 10:00 EST on January 23.

• This season was originally titled Road Rules 360.

• Derrick Kosinski of Road Rules: X-Treme and Cara Zavaleta of Road Rules: South Pacific dropped out of this season, only to be replaced by Adam Larson and Susie Meister.

• Abram is the only person in Bunim-Murray Productions history to be kicked off two separate shows for violence. He was sent home for hitting Donnell in Road Rules: South Pacific and he was sent home for hitting Adam during this season.
