Academy names Oscar Awards visual effects contenders

Seven films will be considered for this year's visual effects Oscar, the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences announced Friday. The academy said "The Aviator," "The Day After Tomorrow," "Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban," "I, Robot," "Lemony Snicket's A Series of Unfortunate Events," "Sky Captain and the World of Tomorrow" and "Spider-Man 2" would be considered for the visual effects prize.
