Lizette Alvarez Biography

Lizette Alvarez (born October 30, 1964 Miami) is an American journalist, and Miami Bureau Chief, for The New York Times.

She won the 1995 Goldsmith Prize for Investigative Reporting, with Lisa Getter. She won a 1993 Pulitzer Prize for Public Service with The Miami Herald. She won a 1996 George Polk Award with The New York Times.

Life

She graduated from Florida State University with a B.A. in 1986, and from Northwestern University, an with an M.S. degree, in 1987. She was a reporter for The New York Daily News. She was a reporter at The Miami Herald from 1991 to 1995. In 1996, she was Bronx bureau chief. She reported on Congress from May 1997 to 2002. She was London correspondent from 2003 to 2005.

Family

She is married to Don Van Natta, Jr.; they have two children.
