Bonnie Hammer is Chairman of the NBCUniversal Cable Entertainment Group. Her responsibilities comprise executive oversight of leading cable brands USA, Syfy, E! Entertainment, Bravo, Oxygen, Style, G4, Sprout, TV One, Chiller, Cloo and Universal HD, as well as production entities Universal Cable Productions and Wilshire Studios.

Biography

Born into a Jewish family, Hammer graduated from Boston University College of Communication in 1971 with a degree in communications; she also earned a master's degree in Media Technology from the University's School of Education in 1975. She began her career in television at WGBH, the public television station in Boston, where she produced This Old House and ZOOM. She later executive-produced Good Day! for Boston's ABC affiliate, WCVB.

Hammer first established herself professionally in New York as a programming executive at Lifetime Television, where she oversaw production of an award-winning series of documentaries.
