Previous 'Nashville Star' winners yet to show consistent success

Despite the fact that it's about to crown its fifth season winner, none of USA Network's Nashville Star four previous winners have enjoyed that type of commercial success one would expect to come from such a bolded titled series -- a development that hasn't gone unnoticed by some of the show's past and present judges.

In the spirit of the old South-Western Conference, made up of seven universities from Texas and the University of Arkansas, the Arkansas Star Gazette reports that the final three contestants on USA Network's country-music series Nashville Star consist of two contestants from Texas and one from Arkansas. Although the voting is complete, the winner will not be announced until Saturday night at 9.

The judges have spoken, and USA Network is proud to announce the twelve finalists for Nashville Star, a grassroots nationwide talent search for the next country music superstar premiering Saturday, March 8 at 9:00 PM (ET/PT) on USA Network. The finalists will compete for a recording contract with Sony Music Nashville over the course of the live nine-week series. They will live together in a fully-wired Nashville house where cameras will record their day in and day out quest to become the next great country music sensation.
