Lukas Rossi, (born December 21 1976), is a Canadian singer, and winner of the the TV show contest Rock Star: Supernova.

Rossi was chosen over Magni Asgeirsson of Iceland (4th), Toby Rand of Australia (3rd), and finally Dilana Robichaux of Houston, Texas (2nd) in the finale on CBS' Rock Star: Supernova on September 13 2006, to claim the crown and role of lead singer of Rock Star Supernova. Rock Star Supernova released their debut album on November 21st, 2006.

In June of 2007, Rossi released "The Love and Lust EP", a recording of 4 acoustic tracks. He toured across the USA and Canada during the summer and spent time with the fans that have supported him.

Rossi's future plans include an album and tour with his new band "Stars Down". A sample of tunes from this band are available on Rossi's Official MySpace

Rossi trained at the Royans School For the Musical Performing Arts (whose voice-students include Raine Maida from Our Lady Peace) and he has recorded, written, produced and played with his own band Cleavage, as well as co-written, sung and played with various Canadian bands, including I Mother Earth, The Tea Party, Edwin and Big Wreck, as well as American band Papa Roach. He also worked with producer and Rush guitarist Alex Lifeson, after winning the 'Best Canadian Unsigned Band' award at the 2000 NXNE Music Festival in Toronto with his band Cleavage. On May 29 2001 Cleavage's 6-song debut CD, self-titled Cleavage, was released.

After acquiring a publishing deal with EMI Music Publishing Canada in 2004, Rossi worked and wrote with producer Dave Tyson (Alannah Myles & Amanda Marshall) in Los Angeles. After that, he recorded demos with producer Gavin Brown (Billy Talent, Three Days Grace), leading to the formation of the band Rise Electric.

Personal life

Lukas stated for months that he was single although he dated several women, among them actress Regina Russell, Fiona Falkiner, star of The Biggest Loser - Australia, and ex-porn star and exotic dancer Kendra Jade.

After 6 months of dating, Rossi married ex-porn star Jade on May 14, 2007, in a Las Vegas wedding chapel.

Trivia

  • Shares the same birthday as fellow Rockstar: Supernova rocker Toby Rand, although Rossi is a year older.
  • Like fellow rocker Toby Rand, Rossi is left handed. Although, left handed, Rossi can play guitar with either his left or right hand.
  • His favorite concert he ever attended was a Tool concert. He admits, though, that he is not a fan of going to concerts and doesn't like doing covers or being too influenced by other artists. He, instead, prefers to be completely separate and original so that no other artist's work seeps into his music.
  • Before going on Rock Star: Supernova, Rossi says he was "broke as a joke," but turned down the initial audition as he thought the show was for Van Halen. When he found out who it really was, he agreed to audition. His friend Barbara Sedun paid for his plane ticket to Vancouver (as he missed the auditions in Toronto) and was later reimbursed by EMI music.
  • Father's name is Sergio Rossi. Lukas dedicated his cover of "Fix You" to his father. though they did not have a strong relationship, and he left his house at the age of 15
  • He wrote the song "Headspin" for and about his mother.
  • Considers himself a Christian, though he doesn't regularly attend church.
  • Cites Jeff Buckley as a major musical influence, and performed a song at an Ottawa concert on November 25th, 2006 dedicated to Buckley.
