Anna Foerster Biography

Anna J. Foerster is a German-born American cinematographer, film/television director and former visual effects artist. She is best known for collaborations with film director Roland Emmerich, working under different capacities on every film directed by him dating back to Independence Day (1996), with the exception of the 2000 film The Patriot.

Career

As a cinematographer, Foerster worked in the second unit on the films Alien: Resurrection (1997), Johnson Family Vacation (2004), The Day After Tomorrow (2004), on Flux (2005) and 10,000 BC (2008), also working as a second unit director on the latter four films.

In the visual arts, some of her film credits include Independence Day (1996), Godzilla (1998), Pitch Black (2000) and Stuart Little 2 (2002).

As a head director, she directed numerous episodes of the television series Criminal Minds, an episode of its spin-off Criminal Minds: Suspect Behavior, three episodes of Unforgettable, and four episodes of the Starz series Outlander.

Foerster is slated to make her feature film directing debut with Underworld: Blood Wars.

Future projects

She has been developing the film Secret Hunter based on the Ranulph Fiennes novel The Secret Hunters (2002) since 2008.

She was also announced to be the director of the upcoming sci-fi sequel Source Code 2.
