Alina Vladimirovna Zhidkova (born January 18, 1977) is a Russian former Women's Tennis Association tennis player.

Biography

Born in Moscow, then part of Soviet Union, she was one of many players that have been training at Nick Bollettieri academy in Florida, USA. She beat Serena Williams in straight sets in 2004 Linz tournament. Aside from Williams, she has career victories against many notable players such as Jelena Jankovi?, Mary Pierce, Chanda Rubin, Samantha Stosur, Daniela Hantuchov, Amanda Coetzer, Meghann Shaughnessy, Mirjana Lu?i?-Baroni, Amy Frazier and many others.

In 2005, she won WTA Mexican Open doubles title in Acapulco with Tatiana Perebiynis.

Jidkova underwent knee surgery on 3 April 2001 for torn meniscus suffered during practice after Miami, returning to action in late April.

Jidkova resides in Boca Raton, Florida, U.S., and is married to entrepreneur Sascha Ghods. The two married on December 18, 2010, in a ceremony in Vienna, Austria.

She retired from professional tennis at the end of the 2010 season, and later worked as a coach of Galina Voskoboeva and Ksenia Pervak.

  • 2002 - Won $50,000 ITF/Louisville 2-USA, reaching career-first Tour SF at Memphis (d. world No. 17 Coetzer for first Top 20 win)
  • 2004 - Linz Round 2, won against Serena Williams
  • 2005 - Won women's doubles at Acapulco (with Tatiana Perebiynis)
