Reality TV Airdate Schedule News - November 2004
Fox has announced that The Simple Life 3: Interns, the third installment of its popular reality series starring Paris Hilton and Nicole Ritchie, will premiere Wednesday, January 26 at 8:30PM ET/PT.
Bravo's Project Runway fashion designer competition, a spinoff of sorts of Miramax's Project Greenlight filmmaking series that was dropped by HBO but later picked up by Bravo, will premiere Wednesday, December 1 at 10PM ET/PT. Hosted by supermodel Heidi Klum, Project Runway will give aspiring designers a chance to break into the notoriously difficult-to-crack fashion world via an America's Next Top Model-like competition format.
It looks like ABC has found its own reality version of NBC and CBS's ever-expanding Law & Order and CSI franchises. The alphabet network has announced that starting in January it will be adding a third weekly Extreme Makeover series to its lineup -- the double-coloned Extreme Makeover: Home Edition: How'd They Do That? spinoff of its smash-hit Extreme Makeover: Home Edition series.
The long wait (for both viewers and ratings-starved Fox executives alike) is nearly over. Fox has announced that the fourth edition of its top-ranked American Idol series will return with a special two-hour premiere on Tuesday, January 18 at 8PM ET/PT.
If you can't beat them, join them. Having watched Fox ride its American Idol series to ratings highs over the last three years, NBC has announced that it will broadcast A Clay Aiken Christmas, a one-hour holiday special showcasing Idol 2's extremely successful runner-up, on Wednesday, December 8 at 8PM ET.
In the latest example of synergistic cross-promotional marketing opportunities overriding basic sensibilities, Fox will start the Christmas season bit early and air a Christmas special featuring the winners of the first three American Idol editions on the day before Thanksgiving.
ABC wasn't kidding when it said that it planned to shake things up for the upcoming third edition of The Bachelorette featuring Jen Schefft, the woman who was selected by The Bachelor 3's Andrew Firestone at the conclusion of his series but eventually had her heart broken when the couple split several months later.
Apparently a The Simple Life season wouldn't be complete if Fox didn't miraculously find a "lost episode" of the Paris Hilton and Nicole Ritchie reality series when it was looking for a ratings boost. Therefore with the all-important November sweeps ratings period in full swing and a budding new hit reality series looking for some extra exposure on its schedule, Fox will air a special "lost" episode of this season's The Simple Life 2: Road Trip on Wednesday, November 17 at 8:30PM ET/PT.
Spike TV's The Club, a new The Restaurant-like reality series that chronicles Las Vegas nightclub owner Ed Williams' attempts to relaunch his establishment so that it can better compete with the Vegas Strip gaming hotels, will premiere Wednesday, November 10 at 9PM ET/PT.
