Much like their romantic relationship, Carrie Underwood and Chace Crawford's recent break-up was apparently short and sweet.

"It was completely mutual.  We're both fine.  We broke up over text [messaging] so... It's like 'peace out,'" the American Idol fourth-season champ told Extra correspondent Terri Seymour on Sunday.  "I don't know why everybody's like, 'We've seen so and so moping around.'"

Underwood and the Gossip Girls actor started dating last July and were first spotted together in October at Manhattan's Marquee nightclub and again the following night at the Gramercy Park Hotel's Rose Bar.

She subsequently spent Thanksgiving at Crawford's parents' house in Dallas and also part of her Christmas break with his relatives.

"It just didn't work, and we both knew it didn't work," Underwood told Extra.  "No hard feelings at all whatsoever.  No big deal.  I haven't talked to him in awhile but, I mean, I don't dislike him. So it's no big deal."

Prior to dating Crawford Underwood was romantically linked to Dallas Cowboys quarterback Tony Romo.  She was then rumored to be dating British singer Oliver Trevena in February 2007 before new reports that Underwood and Romo were still romantically involved surfaced in both April and June.  However according to Underwood, the entire Romo romance was a tabloid fabrication.

"It's difficult while you're dating because people always make a lot bigger deal of things than they actually are," Underwood told Extra.  "Then when you break-up with somebody and two months later when it comes out, it's like you're rehashing old stuff."

Now that she's no longer involved with Crawford, Underwood said she's going to continue focusing on her career without any specific goals on the horizon.

"I'm pretty much just going with it.  I try not to set too many goals for myself," she told Extra.  "I'm just enjoying what I have and doing what I'm doing.  I love what I'm doing.  I'm just going with it, seeing what's around the corner."
