Married at First Sight star Luke Cuccurullo has opened up about the moment he realized he knew his future wife, Kate Sisk, during an Unfiltered appearance with MAFS co-star Jasmine McGriff and expert Pastor Calvin Roberson.

Married at First Sight viewers were shocked to learn Luke had actually met Kate, the woman whom the show experts had matched him to marry, before the Season 8 couple exchanged names -- and vows -- at the altar.

Well, Luke, Jasmine, Pastor Cal and Married at First Sight: Unfiltered host Jamie Otis were apparently all equally taken aback by the coincidence although all of Season 8's singles were based in Philadelphia.
"Oh my gosh, you knew her?!" Jamie asked on Tuesday night's Unfiltered broadcast that aired before the season's second episode.

After Luke nodded his head, Jamie said, "No one has ever known the person who was walking down the aisle towards them. This is nuts!"
Pastor Cal enthusiastically nodded his head in agreement with Jamie while Luke let out an awkward laugh.
Jamie then asked Luke to provide a little more information on what he was feeling or thinking in the moment he realized he knew his bride.
"So the very last person on her side of the family was Megan, someone I had met previously. So, I'm at the altar thinking, 'Do I know my bride already?' And there was actually a sneak preview where the doors opened for a hot second, and I was like, 'I know her!' And then they closed," Luke shared.
"And then we had to wait and I was like, 'Uhhh,' and then they opened again, and I was like, 'Yup! Definitely know her!' as she was coming down the aisle."

"Wow," Jasmine noted.
"That's wild," Jamie added.
Pastor Cal also chimed in, "That's crazy."
When asked whether the possibility ever entered his mind that he might have met his future spouse before, Luke explained to Jamie, "Oh, 100 percent!"

"Every day, you are walking around after you figure out [you're getting married at first sight], and you're just looking at everyone and you're like, 'Do you have the same secret that I have?!'" Luke elaborated.
Jasmine apparently felt the same exact way when she learned she was "engaged" to be married.
"That's very true!" Jasmine chimed in.
"You suspect everyone," Luke continued. "You're at the gym and you're like, 'Her? Maybe her? Maybe her.'"
"That is so true," Jasmine agreed once again, before acknowledging she "absolutely had that fear" she might know her groom.

"I was just hoping that it was not someone that I knew," Jasmine admitted, "dated previously or just someone that I, like, left swiped on one of these [dating] sites. I was just hoping for that."

Pastor Cal then confessed he never expected this to happen on Married at First Sight. In fact, he suggested the experts go great lengths to ensure a matched couple is comprised of total strangers.
"We fear this. That's why we ask all of our participants to give us pictures of at least your exes, so we can at least get them out of the way," Pastor Cal explained. "But yeah, that's just an anomaly. That just doesn't happen."
Although Luke recognized his bride right away, it took Kate some time to catch onto the fact she had actually met her husband before. Since Kate acted like it was their first meeting, her initial conversation with Luke after tying the knot was awkward and uncomfortable.
During the second episode of Married at First Sight's eighth season, Kate revealed she had met Luke at a speed-dating event she attended in support of her single friend. Luke ran and hosted the event.
Luke later emailed Kate asking if she'd like to participate in a future event but she did not respond given Lifetime had already informed her that she would be getting married at first sight.

Luke therefore appreciated the fact Kate did not respond to his email, because little did he know at the time he would be her husband!
