"There have been some questions about the status of our marriage, so I wanted to confirm @daveflaherty80 and I have filed for divorce," Amber wrote in an Instagram posting on Friday.

"We obviously had a lot of tough moments but we shared a lot of laughs and fun times together too. In the end we just weren't a good match, but I learned a lot through the experience and can now say I’m thankful for it. I wish Dave well, and I know he wishes the same for me in return."

Married at First Sight's seventh season had concluded with Dave and Amber deciding to stay married on "Decision Day," the eight-week mark at which the season's filming concluded and Dave and Amber each had to decide whether they wanted to remain married or divorce.

However, Dave had announced on the season's subsequent reunion show -- which was filmed several months after "Decision Day" -- that he was done with their relationship and there was no chance of reconciling.

After numerous fights, Dave said Amber had suddenly moved out of their house without any warning one day.

"I think the cameras and the experts are a bit of a safety net, and I think when they were gone, we maybe lost our way a little bit. Amber moved out. I went golfing and I got home and she was gone -- all of her stuff was gone," Dave said on the reunion show.

Dave said Amber's decision became "a finale" for him.

"[I was like], 'Oh, we're not going to talk about this? I guess we're done.' That's how I felt," he said.

During the reunion show, Amber admitted she had made a mistake, regretted leaving, and wanted to fight for her marriage, but Dave made it clear that he had already checked out of the relationship.

"Honestly, I don't think we'll be able to reconcile things. We both hoped we would be in a different place right now, but I think the reality is just that it's not," he said.

"I really do think that's the best thing for our lives," Dave added when asked if the couple was heading for divorce.

Dave had even rejected a request from Married at First Sight's experts Dr. Jessica Griffin, Pastor Calvin Roberson and Dr. Pepper Schwartz that he attend counseling sessions with Amber for just a couple of months.

"No, not at this point," Dave had replied.

Amber had claimed the fact her prior dating history included dating a guy Dave knew from his gym had resulted in Dave not putting as much effort into making their marriage work as he might have put in otherwise.

Dr. Pepper had then suggested Dave should examine why Amber's past relationship with his gym buddy meant so much to him when everyone has a past and Dave should have been able to move on from something like that.

"I feel a little bit attacked by some of these things. I think I put everything into this and it didn't work out," Dave had replied.

"I think I deserve a little more credit than giving up after I found out she had dated a friend. Like yes, I didn't love it. Obviously finding that out, I was very upset by it. But I did my best to move on, so I'm a little frustrated by that. And I think at this point, no, we are ready to move forward."
