Louie Anderson reportedly nearly drowned last week while practicing for Splash, ABC's upcoming celebrity diving competition.

The comedian and Splash contestant almost sank to the bottom of the pool from exhaustion last Wednesday, TMZ reported.

Production sources told the website Anderson had been practicing his dives for the reality show, and upon trying to climb up the ladder to exit the pool, he'd repeatedly fall back into the water.

When Anderson went under, he was reportedly saved and pulled out of the pool by diving legend Greg Louganis -- who's coaching the Splash participants -- and fellow contestant Ndamukong Suh, a Detroit Lions star. After being rescued, Anderson reportedly coughed up water for a few seconds.

However, Anderson is going to be alright, according to the sources.

"[Louie is] feeling great, loving the challenge," Anderson's representative told TMZ.

Splash will premiere on Tuesday, March 19 at 8PM ET. ABC announced it had picked up the reality series in early October.
