Bachelor in Paradise couple Jess Edwards and Spencer Conley have announced they've ended their engagement and parted ways after nearly two years together.

Jess, 27, and Spencer, 33, posted a joint statement via their respective Instagram Stories on Tuesday, September 8.

"After a lot of honest conversations and reflection, we've made the difficult decision to end our engagement and go our separate ways," the pair wrote.
The exes didn't share their reason for breaking up or get into detail about what exactly went wrong other than writing, "There wasn't one moment that brought us here."

Jess and Spencer continued in their statement, "The past year and a half gave us so many memories and experiences that we'll always cherish, and while this isn't the ending we imagined, we'll always have so much love and respect for each other and for what we shared."
The pair insisted that they are "moving forward with grateful hearts" and are "genuinely wanting nothing but happiness for one another."
"Thank you to everyone who believed in us and rooted for our love. Your continued kindness means more than you know as we navigate what comes next," they concluded.
Rumors of trouble in paradise had swirled earlier this summer when Jess and Spencer stopped posting as much about their relationship on social media, but Jess denied they were having issues during an appearance on the "Bachelor Happy Hour" podcast, co-hosted by Rachel Recchia and Charity Lawson.
"I'm sure you guys have noticed, we haven't been on social media as a couple as much together," Jess acknowledged.

"Because I feel like we were doing it so much, it was like, it felt a little performative. We were like, 'Alright, this is not realistic. We're forcing ourselves to do these things when we just want to be normal.'"

Jess said she and Spencer had felt an obligation to post on social media all the time as a couple in order to not disappoint their fans and Bachelor Nation.
"But we were like, 'You know what? No. We just need to do what feels natural.' And he's wanted to take a little break from social media, and I'm not going to be like, 'No, you need to be in this!'" Jess explained at the time.
"So if he wants to, he wants to. And yeah, I just think we're trying to be as normal as possible because we were just handed this platform, and we're like, 'Eh, what do we do?!'"

Jess suggested that fans had unrealistic expectations for her social media and she had "a really bad problem" of reading comments about her alleged breakup and "getting immediately infuriated."
Jess apparently felt the need to post something about Spencer after reading the negative comments and speculation.
"And then I'm like, 'You know what? It literally does not matter what they think.' I know nine times out of 10, it's because they care and they're invested in us. And then there's just the people who want to start drama," Jess said in August.
Jess expressed annoyance, in particular, over trolls who had claimed she rarely wore her engagement ring.
"I will have people literally comment on videos where you can clearly see my ring in every clip and they're like, 'She's not been wearing her ring recently.' And I'm like, 'Girl, yes I have!'" Jess vented.

Jess pointed out how she and Spencer simply had a lot going on and couldn't dedicate all of their time to posting on social media.
"There's things that pop up and I don't know. I'm just not, I don't ever want to be fraudulent or fake on there," Jess shared.
"So I don't want to have all these things going on and then be like, 'Okay, we've got to make a couples' video really quick. Like, come on, let's fit it in.' It just feels like too much and then it gets to be an annoyance and it's not fun anymore."
Jess had moved from San Diego, CA, to Dallas, TX, to be with Spencer in January 2026, and she gushed on the podcast about how Spencer did a great job of preventing her from feeling lonely.
While Jess and Spencer weren't the only couple who found love on Bachelor in Paradise's tenth season, they were the only couple who left Costa Rica engaged.
Jess and Spencer chose love over money during the September 2025 finale on ABC, but as a reward for having their priorities straight, they walked away with a cash prize of $190,000.
During a Q&A session with fans via Instagram last year, Jess and Spencer revealed they were "taking things one step at a time" in terms of wedding planning, according to BachelorNation.com.
