ABC has announced the season finales of The Bachelor: Officer and a Gentleman and Dancing with the Stars' fourth season will air over the course of two nights in late May.

Dancing with the Stars will go first -- sort of -- as ABC plans to air the fourth season's final performance episode on Monday, May 21 from 8PM to 9PM ET/PT, shaving a half-hour of its normal Mondays 8-9:30PM time period.

The Dancing with the Stars broadcast will feature the competition's three remaining couples performing for one final time -- a change from two couples finale format used in Dancing with the Stars 3 and a return to the three couples format used in Dancing with the Stars' second season. (Dancing with the Stars' first and third season finales both featured only two remaining couples.)

Immediately following Dancing with the Stars 4's final performance show on May 21, The Bachelor's tenth installment will end a special two-hour 9-11PM ET/PT finale broadcast in which star Andy Baldwin will award his final rose and propose marriage.  The episode will follow the 30-year-old undersea medical officer stationed in Pearl Harbor, HI as he returns home to Pennsylvania to ask his family for guidance in deciding between the two remaining bachelorettes.  He will then return to his current home in Hawaii to pick the suitor he wants to spend the rest of his life with.

Then on Tuesday, May 22, Dancing with the Stars will air a special two-hour live results show from 8PM to 10PM ET -- a move that will put its first (preesumably recap-filled) hour up against Fox's 8-9PM ET/PT broadcast of American Idol's final sixth season performance show -- and reveal which fourth season celebrity will join the ranks of previous Dancing with the Stars champions Emmitt Smith, Drew Lachey and Kelly Monaco. (Idol's season finale will air the following night, Wednesday, May 23, from 8-10PM ET/PT.)
