Just in case viewers haven't been bored enough by this season's disappointing family edition of The Amazing Race, CBS has announced that for the first time ever, the reality show's second and third place finishers will compete in a special "bonus mini-race" in which one of the teams will win a 2006 GMC Yukon XL vehicle.

Filmed after the conclusion of The Amazing Race: Family Edition's main race and available for viewing exclusively via CBS.com after tonight's two-hour The Amazing Race finale airs, the "mini-race" will consist of a bonus challenge in which the two teams will have to recall specific challenges and locations from this past season.

According to Daily Variety, the edited challenge will be offered as a free six-minute streaming video segment. In keeping with CBS' practice of not updating its web content until after its programming airs on the West Coast, the sure-fire insomnia cure will be made available for viewing beginning on Wednesday, December 14 at 2AM ET/PT.

Three families remain competing in The Amazing Race: Family Edition -- the Weavers, the Bransens, and the Linzes. The Amazing Race 9 -- a new regular edition of the show in which the competition will return to its traditional two-person team format -- is currently filming and scheduled for broadcast in early 2006.
