Heidi Montag and Spencer Pratt's recent separation reportedly isn't real -- just as skeptics have speculated.

Montag's recent decision to move of the home she shared with her husband because she's in need of "some alone time" is a publicity stunt orchestrated by The Hills couple, multiple sources told Us Weekly in the magazine's new issue.

"It's totally fake," a The Hills source told Us.

"Heidi and Spencer are laughing over it and having a blast," another source told Us.

Montag -- who wed Pratt in April 2009 -- moved out of the Pacific Palisades, CA home early last week, but hasn't filed for divorce. Instead, she stated the couple is "working on things" and she "just needed some space."

"There are no plans for a divorce," a source close to the couple told Us.

Sources also claim the split is simply a fake storyline concocted by the couple because The Hills is currently in the midst of airing its final season and neither Pratt or Montag have any new projects on the horizon.

"This breakup is the latest part of Spencer's master plan," a source told Us.

Montag's sister -- former I'm a Celebrity... Get Me Out of Here! participant Holly Montag -- has also claimed the split isn't authentic.

"If anyone has come to expect anything from those 2 is that THEY r the LIARS," she wrote in a May 29 post to her Twitter account.

Montag plans on spending the summer living with friend Jen Bunney, who has previously stated that their time together will be filmed for a new reality series.

"Heidi will be deciding, is she going to be an independent woman or is she going to stay with Spencer?" Bunney told Us, adding Pratt will also be featured on the show.

"That will be a big aspect of our show, how Spencer handles it."

In addition, Bunney -- who previously appeared on The Hills' second season -- said the new reality series will also document her pursuit of an MBA or a medical degree.

"Fame is not going to support us for the rest of our lives," she told Us. "Ten years from now, we will be wrinkled and no one will know our name."

Neither MTV, E! nor Oxygen are currently attached to the new reality show, according to Us.
