In the episode titled "As We Forgive Those...," Clarkson plays the role of Kelly, a local television station intern.  Barbara Jean, played by Melissa Peterson, is married to McEntire's ex-husband Brock (Christopher Rich) and also works as a weather girl at the TV station.  Right from Kelly's arrival, Barbara Jean thinks the new intern was brought in by management to be her successor.  Barbara Jean then convinces a reluctant Reba to coax the truth out of Kelly about her intentions at the station.

Also in the episode, Reba and Brock's daughter Cheyenne, played by JoAnna Garcia, and her husband Van, played by Steve Howey, must break some bad news to Brock -- they aren't naming their baby after him.  In the episode's final scene, Brock, Cheyenne and Van perform a spoof of Idol judges Simon Cowell, Randy Jackson and Paula Abdul.

Clarkson, a 24-year-old two-time Grammy winner, grew-up listening to McEntire, a 51-year-old who is also a two-time Grammy winner.  The two also had the opportunity to perform a duet together on Idol in 2002.

"I love her...she's just a really great person," Clarkson told The Associated Press about McEntire.
