Kate Gosselin apparently pities her ex-husband Jon Gosselin, and in a way, feels that's evidence she still loves him in some way.

"Has [Jon] snapped? Do you still love him?" Bethenny talk show host Bethenny Frankel asked Kate during her Thursday show.

"Somebody once told me that if you feel sadness and empathy and pity for someone the root of that is love," the former Kate Plus 8 star replied. "[But] I feel like the person that I married nearly overnight was not that person anymore."

Kate told Frankel the child custody arrangements Jon and herself have made, in terms of how they can best take care of and raise their eight children, have been working.

"Without going into to much detail, we are making the best of it. I definitely want them to know that I did not want to hinder or stand in the way of that relationship with him," Kate explained.

"So I do everything I can to foster that because it is important and you have to have the ability to remove judgement and ugliness from that. The best thing for my kids is that I give them the opportunity and the ability to continue that relationship. When they are older, if they don't want to do it anymore or whatever decisions they make, that is their business. For now, my job is to foster that bond."

In light of reports Kate and Jon are both currently struggling to make ends meet, Frankel also asked Kate point blank where all the money went from filming multiple seasons of Jon & Kate Plus 8 followed by Kate Plus 8.

"I'm real. I have nothing to hide... The majority of what we made, I personally took and put in a college fund for [the kids] because they will go to college. So I use coupons, we don't wear the top brands. Those things to me really aren't overly important but college, school and their house, where they live, is important," Kate said.

In addition, Kate addressed speculation and admitted she had a "tummy tuck" plastic surgery procedure done.

TLC announced it was canceling Kate Plus 8 -- which began as Jon & Kate Plus 8 in 2007 before being relaunched as Kate Plus 8 in 2010 following her 2009 divorce from Jon -- in August 2011.
