The Amazing Race eliminated Nicole "Nicky" Getz and Kim DeJesus during Sunday night's eighth broadcast of the CBS reality competition's 23rd season.

The "Baseball Wives" became the sixth team eliminated from the around-the-world competition after they arrived at the Race's eighth Pit Stop at the top of Jebel Hafeet in Abu Dhabi of the United Arab Emirates in last place. The two girls had been lucky enough to be saved twice in the competition via two separate non-elimination legs but also faced some bad luck along the way.

In an exclusive interview with Reality TV World on Monday, Nicky and Kim talked about their The Amazing Race experience.

Below is the first half of Nicky and Kim's interview. Check back with us on Tuesday for the concluding portion.

Reality TV World: How long after Allison "Ally" Mello and Ashley Covert did you arrive at the Pit Stop?

Kim DeJesus: Probably like 45 minutes, I think, because we had the U-Turn and we had the Speed Bump. So we knew we were pretty far behind.

Reality TV World: What do you think contributed the most to your elimination? Was it the Speed Bump, getting U-Turned, a mistake made along the way?

Nicole "Nicky" Getz: I definitely think that it was the U-Turn because [Detours] take kind of a long time. So because we had to do both of them, it kind of put us behind.

Reality TV World: Timothy Sweeney and Marie "Reebs" Mazzocchi were shown saying they U-Turned you girls not only because they wanted "a little cushion room" but also because they were still ticked off about the "sneaky" incident in a prior leg when you girls appeared to cut them in line getting tickets for a standby flight, which home viewers know wasn't the case. Do you wish you had taken a moment to explain to Tim and Marie how you got on the standby list before them so they wouldn't be so aggravated with you girls going forward?

Nicole "Nicky" Getz: Yeah!

Kim DeJesus: We told them like 20 times, like after we got back, how we got on. They just wanted to be mad about it.

Nicole "Nicky" Getz: Yeah, I don't think Marie strikes me as the forgiving type.

Kim DeJesus: (Laughs)

Nicole "Nicky" Getz: She was mad at us from the beginning because we played it so fair, and I think had anyone else thought of doing that, it was like a legit -- I mean, that's part of the Race, making decisions that other people wouldn't think of. So I'm sure she held a grudge against us for that, but ultimately, I think it was a fair decision to do.

Reality TV World: If Tim and Marie didn't have the excuse of that standby flight situation to use against you girls, do you think they still would've U-Turned you? Because if they were just looking for "a little cushion room" as they said, the pair also could've U-Turned Ally and Ashley or some other team.

Nicole "Nicky" Getz: That's a good question.

Kim DeJesus: At that point, there was a relationship between Ally and Tim, so I don't think that they wanted -- I don't think Marie or Tim wanted the Ice Girls off, because I think Marie was happy there was a relationship going on, and I think Tim was too. So I think at that point, we were just kind of out of luck. They wanted some cushion room, and I think we were just going to be those people.

Reality TV World: Would you mind elaborating a little bit on Ally and Tim's relationship? Where did that come from and how did that develop? Viewers haven't seen any of that unfold on TV.

Kim DeJesus: We're not supposed to talk about that, but I don't think there was really a relationship. I just think they were like flirting and kind of whatever.

Reality TV World: When you figured out Tim and Marie had U-Turned you, Kim, you were shown saying you thought they were just "mean" people. How did you feel about them, Marie especially, while you were racing? Did your negative feelings toward them kind of come to a head at that U-Turn or were you feeling that way about them for awhile?

Kim DeJesus: You know, I don't think they're bad people at all. I think everybody had good in them, and I think Marie is just a very strong-willed woman and she wants things done her way.

I think the Race really brings that out in her, and I think since the Race, we text and she's fine. We joke around, and I think if it was any other situation, I could see the humor in how she goes about life. It's almost like entertaining. It's like, "Wow, you really are like this!"

Nicole "Nicky" Getz: Talk about having absolutely no filter.

Kim DeJesus: Yeah, she just has no filter and she'll just say anything. And you know what? She is who she is and she doesn't apologize for it, and there's nothing [wrong] with that. I just think we're very, very different from her.

I think we were the team that really aimed to see the positive in life, not just in the Race, but also in our lives in general. We love to laugh and be happy, (laughs) like we're both really happy people. And I just think Marie is, you know, she's just a strong woman! I don't know.

Nicole "Nicky" Getz: (Laughs)

Reality TV World: When you two approached host Phil Keoghan at that last Pit Stop, he noted that while you girls had been saved in two previous legs, you were being eliminated this time. Do you think it was necessary of Phil to remind yourselves and viewers of that? Did that frustrate you at all or make you feel like maybe people thought you didn't deserve those two non-elimination legs?

Kim DeJesus: Well I think at that point, all the other teams were calling us "the bunnies with nine lives." And I mean, we did get saved two other times. I think that's part of the reason why at the end we weren't crying, because we kind of knew that this was the end. We were already saved twice, and you know, at some point, we were going to get kicked off.

So, I don't know, we just had such a great time with the Race and it was such a great experience. So at the end when he said that, we were like, "You're right and we're just happy that we made it to some extra countries."

Reality TV World: A lot of our readers think you girls ran the Race pretty impressively.

Nicole "Nicky" Getz: Thank you!

Reality TV World: You're welcome! But obviously you girls did get saved in those two previous legs and stuff. Looking back on your experience, would you attribute your last-place finishes to bad luck or do you think there actually were things you could've changed or done differently to better your chances?

Kim DeJesus: I think we were very -- we were either right up at the front or we were in the back. And I think a lot of the time when we were in the back, it was when there were a lot of physical [activity] involved. Like in Norway, those fish were literally so physically hard [to carry].

Nicole "Nicky" Getz: I've said that was the worst day of my life.

Kim DeJesus: It was the hardest thing of our lives, literally, I think my back was sore for days. And then doing the salt mines task, that was really hard, you know? So when we were towards the back, it was -- and then in Abu Dhabi, we wouldn't have been last if we didn't miss that yacht by three seconds!

So I think I would've beaten Ally in that race car thing had we made the yacht and never would have been in last. We wouldn't have needed the non-elimination. So it was just a lot of little things that all kind of came together. But overall, I think we made smart decisions and we were really surprised how well we did.

I think there's a lot to be said for just keeping a positive mentality and treating everybody well and being kind as much as you can, and we were really nice to all our cab drivers and we never raised our voices at any of the locals. I think that worked on our side. I think it worked to our benefit. People wanted to help us, and I think we got a lot of those advantages along the way because [of that].

Nicole "Nicky" Getz: Yes, it was good karma, so that's why we got the two non-eliminations. (Laughs)

Kim DeJesus: (Laughs)

Reality TV World: Do you think the other teams underestimated you two a little bit? A couple of other teams had told me they do believe that.

Kim DeJesus: I think so, and I think we underestimated ourselves, to be honest.

Nicole "Nicky" Getz: Yeah, I mean, we went into the Race thinking, "Okay, we just can't get kicked off first!"

Kim DeJesus: We were like joking and hash-tagging each other in text like, "First team eliminated."

Nicole "Nicky" Getz: Yeah! And so as more legs went by, we were like, "Wow, we are really in this. Let's keep going. Let's keep pushing it." And it worked! I mean, when we got kicked off, it was kind of like really bittersweet because we had a great experience and it was so fun and we would do it again in a heartbeat.
