Ben Higgins says he'd be shocked if Peter Weber ended up alone after filming The Bachelor, and if that's the case, Ben believes it would've been an "excruciating" experience for the well-intentioned pilot.

"I will say this: Based on his intentions going in, how I believe he probably walked through the process, the questions he's asking now [on the show], I would be shocked if he didn't find somebody," Ben told Access in a recent interview.

"It would shock me. I would be surprised."

Ben, who starred on Season 20 of The Bachelor, reasoned, "I don't think somebody like Peter -- who was so excited about this -- would walk through this process without at least giving it his best attempt."

"And so if he isn't with somebody now," Ben added, "I know it had to be excruciatingly hard for him."

Ben said he spoke with Peter before and after The Bachelor's 24th season filmed from September to November 2019.

"It feels like the core of who Peter was when I met him a few months ago is the same guy he is today," Ben told Access.

"I think he's happy. I think you're happy no matter what. To be honest, I don't know the details of this season, on purpose really... I don't want to spoil it [on my podcast]... So yes, I think he's happy."

When Ben and Peter first talked before the show began taping, Ben apparently gave him some advice.

"We talked through the process and the things to look out for and the things that you should be concerned about and the things you shouldn't be concerned about," Ben explained.

"I think the biggest [concern] is losing yourself in the process. This is intense. It's a whole new world and you're going to be dating so many people at one time. You're not prepared for this!"

Ben also advised Peter to "trust the producers," because at the end of the day, he said the production team does want to get the Bachelor in a good place and see an amazing love story play out.

Late last year, The Bachelor host Chris Harrison actually compared Peter's season to Ben's edition, which aired in 2016.

"I was trying to think of a season I could go back and reference. It's kind of like a Ben Higgins type of season, where it's a guy who really wears his heart and his emotions on his sleeve," Chris told Entertainment Tonight in December.

Chris elaborated Peter was "really good at compartmentalizing" relationships, "but almost too much so" in that Peter struggled to cut the cord with bachelorettes at times and hit emotional roadblocks during his journey to find The One.

Ben told Access he can understand why Chris compared him to the pilot.

"I think the one thing Peter and I really did have in common is that we thought this whole thing kind of blew our minds," Ben shared.

"Like, how lucky are we to be in L.A. even? My first time in L.A. was the very first time I came for [The Bachelorette]. Peter lives here, but he hasn't had a lot of focus on him in life. For me and Peter both, I think this is a little bit overwhelming and we're super grateful for it."

Ben also insisted he and Peter were both sincere and genuine about pursuing love and finding a real relationship.

"And if that is your intention throughout the process, then I think it's going to end up well, no matter what happens," Ben explained.

"I like Peter. I think he's going to do great. I think he'll do far greater things than I did. It's nice to even be in the same sentence as this year's Bachelor. It feels like forever since I was on the show. I'm old news."

As fans probably recall, Ben fell in love with both Lauren Bushnell and JoJo Fletcher on The Bachelor's 20th season about four years ago, and he told both women how he truly felt before the Final Rose Ceremony.

Ben ultimately chose Lauren and proposed marriage to her, leaving JoJo devastated and blindsided because Ben had made her feel like they were going to end up together.

Lauren later seemed to have trouble getting over Ben's highly-publicized relationship and breakup with JoJo. Lauren and Ben gave their romance their best shot, but it ended a little over a year after his The Bachelor finale aired.

Ben is now dating Jessica Clarke, who's not a member of Bachelor Nation, and Lauren is married to country singer Chris Lane and living in Nashville, TN.
