The business news cable network has announced that, effective April 3, the 24-year-old financial journalist will be joining its staff as an associate reporter.

"Rebecca has shown herself to be an intelligent, poised, inquisitive individual with a keen interest in business reporting," CNBC senior vice president David Friend stated in the network's announcement of her hiring. "She achieved a great deal at a young age and impressed everyone here. Her background as an investment banker and currency trader has provided her with the insights that will give her depth as a business reporter."

Operating out of CNBC's global headquarters in New Jersey, Rebecca will work with every department at the news network, including the assignment desk, video editing and graphic art. As part of her responsibilities, she will also accompany other senior CNBC reporters in the field and develop and report her own stories.

"As an investment banker and trader, I followed CNBC's contributions to financial news and I'm thrilled to join a team of the industry's finest and most reputable business reporters," said Rebecca.

Although she'd received several other job offers since December's The Apprentice 4 finale had ended with Donald Trump opting to hire Randall Pinkett, Rebecca had passed on all of them, deciding to instead do some freelance reporting while fully exploring all her post-Apprentice opportunities.

Rebecca graduated from the University of Chicago with a degree in Economics/Law, Letters & Society. A recipient of the University of Chicago's Dean's Grant, she also studied international economics and business in Paris at Sciences Po and Universite Paris Dauphine.

After graduation, Jarvis worked at Banc of America Securities in Chicago as an investment banking analyst, executing private equity and strategic mergers and acquisition advisory, equity, high yield and investment grade transactions. Prior to that, she worked during the summer as a short-term interest rate trader on Citigroup's foreign exchange desk in London.

Back in February 2000, Teen People had named her "One of 20 Teens Who Will Change the World." Starting at age 16, she spent three years served as an on-air reporter for Whatever, a weekly teen program broadcast on KARE-TV, NBC's Minneapolis affiliate.
