Many fans are having a hard time taking Nicole and Azan's romance seriously given they've been together so long -- and have appeared on multiple 90 Day Fiance seasons -- and have yet to make their love official by getting married.

Some people have even joked Nicole and Azan's storyline should be called "90 Year Fiance" instead of "90 Day Fiance."

Nicole has apparently been waiting to get married, and she's been patient with Azan throughout their financial and long-distance struggles, but are they still together after all of the hardship?

Until we dive into the couple's current relationship status, let's go back to when Azan and Nicole's love story began.

Prior to starring on the fourth season of 90 Day Fiance: Happily Ever After?, Nicole and Azan appeared on Seasons 4 and 5 of the original 90 Day Fiance series as well as Season 3 of Happily Ever After? on TLC.

Nicole first became acquainted with Azan through a mobile dating app. Nicole was 21 years old at the time and living in Bradenton, FL, while Azan was 23 years old and from Agadir, Morocco.

Despite obvious obstacles looming, Nicole decided to travel to Morocco to meet Azan in person and get to know him better. At the time, she decided to leave her toddler daughter, May, at home with family.

Similar to the majority of couples who star on the 90 Day Fiance series, it was basically love at first sight for Nicole, and Azan told the Florida native he was in love with her in no time.

It took time, however, for Nicole to be convinced of Azan's feelings for her considering he refrained from public displays of affection in his home country, such as kissing her or staying overnight together in the same hotel room.

Azan blamed his strict religion and having respect for his culture for their lack of intimacy, but Nicole worried he just wasn't into her looks. (Azan even said during an interview she was "a little big" physically).

But Nicole and Azan continued to date and communicate well, and they even worked through Nicole's admission she had once cheated on Azan.

They also stayed together despite the fact neither person was willing to convert to Azan's Islam or Nicole's Christian beliefs.

Azan eventually decided to propose marriage to Nicole, and she accepted and looked forward to Azan becoming a father to her daughter.

Nicole anticipated Azan would move to the United States and be with her forever, but his K-1 visa was denied, leaving Nicole brokenhearted and confused about the future.

As fans may recall on the third season of 90 Day Fiance: Happily Ever After?, Nicole therefore traveled to Morocco again under the impression they would get married and obtain a spousal visa for Azan so he could subsequently move to America.

Recordings of what seemed to be Azan on the phone with another woman talking about kissing her leaked, but Nicole opted to trust Azan and leave the incident in the past.

Although the pair got along well and Nicole was clearly ready to become Azan's wife, Nicole and Azan postponed their wedding due to alleged financial burdens.

After all, Azan couldn't seem to hold down a permanent job, and Nicole wasn't exactly banking cash as a barista.

Azan therefore appeared to convince Nicole to invest $6,000 of her money for the wedding into opening a beauty store instead. (He said he was investing $500).

Nicole acted as if she and Azan were on the same page about the reasons for canceling their nuptials, but Azan seemed to be the one hesitant to tie the knot.

Nicole also returned to Florida upset about being alone and still unmarried. She recognized her love story was becoming quite the saga.

On the Season 4 premiere of 90 Day Fiance: Happily Ever After?, cameras caught up with Nicole seven months after she had returned to Florida and was living with her sister and brother. (Nicole had given up her own apartment).

Nicole was shown discussing how she planned to travel back to Morocco to get married to Azan once and for all, and she insisted she was going to spend the rest of her life with Azan.

But Nicole spilled the beans about what happened with the alleged beauty store, and the news probably shocked fans everywhere.

"There is no store," Nicole admitted to a producer. "But I haven't told my family because my family does nothing but grill me."

In a more recent episode, Nicole suggested to Azan they both travel to a vacation spot where Azan wouldn't need a tourist visa and they could be affectionate with each other in public.

Nicole was desperate to see Azan and figured Grenada would be a fun and relaxing place for them to spend some time together.

Nicole, however, was hurting for cash and would need to come up with the money in order to make the trip since Azan wasn't really working.

Nicole's family continued to express disapproval over her relationship with Azan, especially her mother and father, who remained skeptical of Azan's intentions.

Nicole, however, stood by her man and asked her family not to worry or judge. She even began dieting so she would feel great about herself upon seeing her fiance again. Maybe she was prepping herself for buying a wedding dress as well!

In the latest Season 4 episode of 90 Day Fiance: Happily Ever After?, Nicole was once again grilled by her relatives about Azan's intentions.

No one in Nicole's life seemed to believe Azan was in the relationship for the right reasons and truly wanted to get married.

Nicole was apparently sending Azan money all the time because he still wasn't working, and Nicole's mother was concerned because May needed to enroll in Kindergarten within a few months.

Nicole needed a financial plan, and she wasn't sure what to do.

"We have a lot of plans for ourselves and our future that are still going along. It's a little slow, but we will eventual figure things out," Nicole said during the broadcast.

"But right now, I don't want to put pressure on Azan. I am not going to be worrying about anything on my vacation to Grenada."

So what has happened between Azan and Nicole since filming ended? Are they still together? Have they married?

Nicole and Azan are still together, and they keep their romance alive by using Skype, flirting via text and video chatting.

Despite having hard days, Nicole still dreams of having Azan join her in America.

"We [text] every day. Call at least once a day. Try to video chat a couple times a week," Nicole revealed in an Instagram Story in April, adding that she and Azan "have been intimate."

"Trust me, he knows how lucky he is with me. I love him with all my heart forever."

As for what's next, Nicole reportedly now intends to marry Azan during her next visit to Morocco.

"She's sticking around for her sister's wedding in June then going back to Morocco," a source close to Nicole told RadarOnline in early April.

"Her intentions are to get married while she's over there."

Nicole said after tying the knot in Morocco, she and May -- who calls Azan "Daddy" -- will stay there for a little while before attempting a return to America.

But a source told In Touch Weekly that Nicole's parents and siblings "have no plans to join" the couple for their wedding.

"They already lost a lot of money on plane tickets," the source explained after two canceled weddings.

This will reportedly be the first time Nicole has seen her fiance in person in Morocco since 2018.

Nicole recently assured her fans on Instagram, "We love each other and have worked through our mistakes... [I trust] him 100 percent," likely referring to prior cheating accusations.

Nicole also added her daughter "loves Azan very much and misses him a lot as well."

As for speculation Azan is using Nicole for a Green Card or to be a reality TV star, she insisted on Instagram, "We want forever with each other," and she was actually the one who had convinced Azan to do another season of the 90 Day Fiance spinoff.

Nicole also claimed she and her fiance have talked about welcoming more children together in the future as well as potential baby names.

"He wants children and a life with me... Azan is a loving and caring man. He's a kind-hearted person who is very family-oriented. I love everything about him," she said.

The couple would apparently like to name their children a mix of American and Moroccan names, but Nicole acknowledged there is "still some time" before they make those decisions.

Nicole also disclosed her backup plan if Azan's visa to enter the United States get denied again down the road.

"We'll figure it out when we get there. We'll be married if that moment comes so it's not like I'll just leave him. I still want to live my life with him," Nicole explained on Instagram.

"I think we would find somewhere to build a life together even if it's not Morocco... I would live in Morocco with him for a short time (a couple years) but long term we want to live in America together."

As for why Nicole and Azan really canceled their 2018 wedding in Morocco, Nicole took to Instagram in late April to explain the situation to fans during a Q&A session.

Money apparently played a big role in the decision, but that wasn't all.

Nicole claimed 90 Day Fiance: Happily Ever After?'s filming schedule had resulted in them attempting to "rush" the process and the couple felt "too much pressure."

She also said they didn't have "enough funds" to pay for the wedding at the time, which had been shown on the TLC reality series.

"It was too fast! I don't want to feel pressure to marry my best friend. I want to enjoy the process of marrying him," Nicole explained.

Nicole also confessed she and Azan had made everything up about their alleged plan to open a beauty store together in Morocco, as well as the $6,000 Nicole supposedly contributed to the project.

"Plot twist. No store = There was no 6k," Nicole wrote during the Q&A session, later reiterating how "there was no money" at all to begin with.

"Why did we lie? Because we suck at reality tv. Idk. I'm so tired of this show... But [TLC] didn't tell us to say it."

Nicole, who has incorporated fitness and dieting into her lifestyle, also insisted in a Q&A session in April that Azan is completely into her despite what critics may think of their lack of chemistry.

Although Azan mentioned in a previous episode of 90 Day Fiance when the pair was hitting the gym together that he was "55 percent" attracted to her, Nicole said he is definitely "fully attracted" to her looks.

"Sometimes you just need to add drama in places there isn't," Nicole said of the show. "He knew what I looked like 100 percent before I went over [to Morocco]."

"He wouldn't ask me to change anything if I was healthy at this weight. He loves me and my body the way I am 100 percent, not 55... He always reassured me that he loved my body no matter what," she added.

Nicole recently shared that her relationship with Azan is "stronger now" because of everything they've been through as a couple on and off television.

As recently as May 16, Nicole posted a photo of Azan and captioned it, "My man crush everyday."

Nicole also took to her Instagram Stories around the same time to put some rumors to rest and reveal the couple will be launching their own YouTube channel.

"I DO NOT send Azan money regularly. May is well take care of and very happy. Yes, crazy as it seems, Azan loves me just as much as I love him. Yes I know I am worthy to be loved by someone who treats me well and Azan is that man," Nicole wrote, according to The Hollywood Gossip.

"Y'all DO NOT know Azan at all like I or his family do... The only people who will 'finally open their eyes' is y'all once y'all see our journey continued on YouTube... I [have known] Azan for THREE AND A HALF YEARS. Azan is not a 'stranger.'"

Nicole continued, "I have probably seen Azan in person before getting married [than] most of the cast members from 90 Day Fiance... Plus [Azan] doesn't have to post on IG for ME to see he loves me."

Nicole recently added she will marry Azan when "they are ready" and "the right moment" comes -- and it won't be for TV.
