'90 Day Fiance': Rick confesses to cheating, Lisa sees "red flag," Birkan shocks Laura, Emma and Ziad sleep together

90 Day Fiance: Before the 90 Days featured Rick confessing he cheated on Trisha, Lisa seeing "a crack" in her relationship with Daniel, Laura discovering Birkan's disturbing gambling habit, and Emma and Ziad  finally consummating their relationship during the Season 8 episode that aired Sunday night on TLC.


The new season of 90 Day Fiance: Before the 90 Days will follow eight Americans traveling to the Philippines, Belize, Turkey, Morocco, Madagascar, Nigeria, and Australia to meet their online partners for the first time.

The eight Americans include Elise, a bold and outspoken woman who looked for love on 90 Day: Hunt for Love earlier this year. Elise is apparently hoping to settle down with a man named Joshua from Australia.

In addition to Elise, a 32-year-old from Florida, and Joshua, a 39-year-old from Australia, the show is also going to star Jovon, a 38-year-old from Alabama, and Annalyn, a 38-year-old from the Philippines, as well as Aviva, a 26-year-old from Arizona, and Stig, a 30-year-old from Belize.


The rest of the couples are Laura, a 47-year-old from Washington, and Birkan, a 26-year-old from Turkey; Emma, a 28-year-old from California, and Ziad, a 27-year-old from Morocco; Forrest, a 32-year-old from Oregon, and Sheena, a 40-year-old from the Philippines; Rick, a 52-year-old from California, and Trisha, a 25-year-old from Madagascar; and Lisa, a 51-year-old from Pennsylvania, and Daniel, a 39-year-old from Nigeria.

"These couples are stepping into the unknown, driven by love but challenged by distance, doubt, and deep cultural divides," TLC teased.

"From conflicting expectations and family pressure to hidden pasts and even surveillance-level possessiveness, the stakes have never been higher for these unconventional love stories."

In most 90 Day Fiance: Before the 90 Days cases, a pair of lovebirds are hoping to get engaged and begin the K-1 Visa process.

Below is what happened on Episode 9 of 90 Day Fiance: Before the 90 Days' eighth season.

EMMA and ZIAD

Emma was upset Ziad had said in front of his friends that there was a "zero percent" chance he was going to marry her.

Emma called Ziad "disrespectful," but he complained that she was "always difficult" and he just wanted to go to sleep after their tense dinner out.

Emma admitted she was almost at her "breaking point" and she felt really confused. Before she had left for Morocco, Ziad allegedly showed Emma an engagement ring and told her that it was waiting for her.

The next morning, Emma expressed how she was upset that Ziad seemed ready to get engaged before and clearly changed his mind. She said flying to Morocco seemed like a big waste of her time.

"Do you realize everything you've said about me since I've gotten here is negative? It seems like you're always mad at me and I'm always doing something wrong," Emma lamented, adding how Ziad used to send her cute and sweet messages all the time.


Emma therefore asked Ziad if she was the girl whom he really wanted to be with.

"Yeah," Ziad replied. "And all of these things you say are right. I'm sorry for that. I want you to enjoy here with me. So from right now, I will be so nice... From here on, no fights."

The couple therefore kissed and made up, and Emma gushed about how her chemistry with Ziad was still there.

Ziad concluded that Emma is a special and good woman and so he was probably too hard on her.


Emma acknowledged that her relationship with Ziad was moving very slowly but she was okay with that -- at least for now.

Ziad then cooked Emma a nice tangine dinner, hoping she'd forget about their problems. Ziad felt like he and Emma were essentially starting over, and Emma confirmed that she was happy to be in Morocco with him.

Ziad revealed he was "70 percent" sure the pair was going to get married now. He also planned Emma a trip to the desert for her birthday, which Emma hoped would "speed things up" in the bedroom for them.

The next day, Emma shared that she and Ziad finally had sex -- twice.

"I finally got all the physical touch I've been wanting, and it felt really good. It was nice," Emma shared.


"I would say [he's] or normal, average size. It fits in your hand... I can deal with it. But I think he's really worried about how people are going to view him, especially because he is Muslim."

Emma was relieved that Ziad was being nicer to her, and she felt more optimistic about leaving Morocco engaged. She felt closer to Ziad than ever before, but Ziad still didn't know much about her last relationship.

LISA and DANIEL

Lisa said her head hurt and was itchy because she had been wearing a wig for an entire week.

Lisa had some irritation and sores, and so she felt the need to take it off.

"I know Daniel loves me with my long hair, but I need to feel the air touching my scalp!" Lisa explained to the cameras. "At this point, I don't care what Daniel feels when he sees me. I'm not putting the wig back on any time soon."

Lisa was happy she received a blessing from Daniel's uncle to marry, but she felt it was under "false pretenses" because she had lied about her history of dating women.


After meeting Daniel's uncle, Lisa broke the news to her daughter via Zoom that she was engaged. Lisa's mother accused Daniel of "love bombing" and said it "wasn't good."

Lisa's daughter said Daniel was a "playboy" and she never asked him about the women in HIS past.

When Lisa walked out of the bathroom and Daniel saw her with her short hair, he looked displeased and said, "Oh wow. Baby. Oh my god. Why are you like this?"

Lisa asked Daniel what was wrong, and he replied, "It is your hair."

Daniel admitted in a confessional that he was "astonished" when she took her wig off because she looked over and he was "embarrassed" to be seen with her.

"If we're going to be together, she has to wear her wig. She's not going to go with her short hair," Daniel told the cameras. "I want her to meet my friends tonight, but if she doesn't wear her long hair, my friends will be embarrassed and my friends will judge her."

Lisa could tell that Daniel was unhappy with her, and she explained how she needed to look natural sometimes.

Lisa asked Daniel if he no longer thought she was pretty, and Daniel just commented on how he liked her hair longer. Lisa therefore felt "ugly" and "unloved."

Daniel told Lisa that it was fine if she took her wig off at home but she didn't want to go out in public without it. Lisa started to cry and said she wished that Daniel thought she was beautiful all the time.

"I'm starting to see red flags and cracks where I never did before," Lisa noted in a confessional.

She added, "I'm starting to question what Daniel's intentions really are."


Later that night, Lisa met Daniel's friends and cousin, who said Lisa was "an angel" who had come into his life.

Lisa asked if Daniel was a ladies' man, and his friends suggested that he was a new man who Lisa had changed. Daniel's friends insisted Daniel was being honest with Lisa and she needed to trust him.

"But Daniel was talking to another girl on social media at the same time he was talking to me," Lisa announced.

This woman had told Lisa that Daniel was a scam artist, but Daniel's friends claimed they knew nothing about this interaction.

Daniel apparently blocked this woman and deleted the screenshots, which made Lisa believe him. But now, hearing that she had changed Daniel's life, Lisa wondered if Daniel had been looking for any American woman to respond to his messages and date him.

Daniel told the cameras that he had talked to other American women but Lisa was the only woman he dated. Lisa, however, wondered if Daniel was hiding things from her.

JOVON and ANNALYN (ANNA)

Jovon and Anna were fighting at a nice dinner, and Jovon said he didn't know what he could tell his wife to make her feel better.

Anna had complained about how Jovon wasn't romantic, and so when Jovon listed the things he had given to her, Anna accused her of using his "provider" role as "ammunition" against her.

"You're unbelievable," Anna vented to her husband.

Jovon, for his part, said he didn't feel appreciated because he had done a lot for Anna. Jovon said he didn't know how to "navigate around the landmines" in his relationship.

Anna told the cameras that she didn't like Jovon's misogynistic attitude, mainly because she felt she was doing her part in the relationship.

"That was my contribution -- that I stayed all along. But sometimes, he doesn't get me," Anna cried, adding how she wasn't used to arguing with Jovon in person.


"I don't know how much more of this I can take. I don't know."

The next day, Jovon and Anna weren't talking, and Jovon thought Anna was being really hard on him.

"I want you to cut me a little slack," Jovon said.

Anna seemed to think Jovon wasn't okay with her showing emotion, but Jovon clarified how he worked hard to provide for her and so it would be nice if Anna was a little more positive once he got home.

"Do you know how it feels when someone is constantly criticizing you -- when they're supposed to be on your side?" Jovon asked.

"But it's not easy being your woman, putting up with your tantrums, stubbornness and whining. It takes a lot of patience to be with you. I know some women would've given up already," Anna complained.


Jovon said he was tired of Anna complaining about him all the time and thinking she was perfect.

Anna insisted that she didn't regret marrying Jovon but she'd like him to be more positive on a daily basis. The couple decided to kiss and get over their argument, but Anna hoped this cycle wouldn't continue.

RICK and TRISHA (TRISH)

Rick and Trish only had a few more days of island hopping before Rick was going to meet her family.

Rick felt a lot of pressure to have a baby with Trish, but he tried to stay focused on being in such a beautiful place and just enjoying Trish's company.

Rick booked a beautiful place for the couple to stay in Madagascar with a view of the ocean and a private pool. He said he wanted to show Trish how romantic he could be.

Rick surprised Trish with Tarzan-inspired costumes to wear. She thought her man's fantasy was "weird," however, and said she'd rather walk around naked.


Rick liked that idea even better and gushed, "We can be Adam and Eve!"

After spending one night in their cliffside retreat, Rick thought it was time to tell Trish the truth.

"Baby, there's something I've been keeping from you," Rick admitted.

Rick was worried Trish wouldn't forgive him and that she'd want to end things with him.

"Just know that what I'm about to tell you, I regret it," Rick began.

"You make me afraid. Explain yourself," Trish replied.


Rick asked Trish to recall the five days when she refused to talk to him.

"The problem is what I did... When you weren't talking to me, I started talking to my ex," Rick confessed.

"She was the only one that was there to listen to me. So I decided to book a trip to go to Colombia to be with my ex. I was feeling so lonely and abandoned. I thought that you didn't want me anymore."

Rick confirmed that he had sex with his ex during that trip, and Trish immediately broke down into tears.

"I'm sorry, baby. I messed up. I know that I did. I regret what I did, but this is something that we can work through, baby," Rick insisted.

"Shut up! Shut up. How? How could you do that to me? We were together!" Trish cried.


Rick said he assumed their relationship was over when he didn't hear from her, but Trish claimed she had, in fact, gotten back to him.

Rick accused Trish of calling him a stalker at the time, but none of it mattered because Rick had waited so long to tell her.

Rick insisted his romance with his ex was over, but Trish was still extremely upset. Trish wondered if she could trust Rick going forward because he cheated on her, and she lamented about how he wasn't a good guy.

Rick begged Trish to start over with him, but she said she never would've stayed with him had she known about his sexual encounter in Colombia.

Trish then stormed off from Rick and left him alone.

When the pair left the resort, Rick begged Trish to forgive him, but she had nothing to say to him.


Trish said she couldn't stay with someone who still had feelings for an ex-girlfriend. She apparently felt betrayed and didn't know what she was going to tell her whole family.

LAURA and BIRKAN

Laura had been in Turkey for almost a week and she said things were going "okay." Laura said she and Birkan had some difficult conversations about her friendship with Michael and Birkan's debt.

And on top of that, Laura was under the impression that Birkan was keeping a secret from her.

Laura was correct, as Birkan's friends had revealed -- in Turkish so that Laura couldn't understand -- that Birkan gambled constantly. Birkan apparently made and lost money by gambling every single day.

Instead of talking to Laura about this, he took her sightseeing at a castle and continued to romance her.

Laura had a feeling that Birkan was masking something significant, but Birkan was afraid of how she was going to react.


After an enjoyable day, Laura asked Birkan how he got into so much debt. Birkan explained how he had taken out a bank loan to open a third place but then COVID bankrupted him and he had to sell his car and house.

Birkan therefore told Laura that he started gambling to pay off his debt and never stopped.

When Birkan told Laura that he gambled every day to make money, Laura appeared distraught.

"That's how my friends and I paid rent for a long time. That's how we live," Birkan said.

Laura admitted she was "angry, hurt and shocked" by this news. Laura wished Birkan would find a real job, and she suddenly became paranoid he gambled away the money she had sent him to help him out.

Birkan claimed that he didn't have a gambling addiction and that he wouldn't gamble with Laura's money, but she didn't believe him. Birkan said he mainly bet on football games, but Laura knew that she'd be financially responsible for Birkan in the U.S for 10 years.


"Are we going to have more financial problems because you can't stop gambling?" Laura asked.

Birkan said that was going to be the case but he was going to keep gambling until he hit a jackpot.

"This is really serious, and I feel like I should just pull the plug and go home now," Laura told the cameras.
