The fifth episode of the season featured World of Dance executive producer and judge Jennifer Lopez and her fellow judges, Grammy Award-winning singer Ne-Yo and six-time Dancing with the Stars champion Derek Hough, sending six dance acts from "The Qualifiers" round to "The Duels."

The judges decided to advance DNA, a ballroom act representing the Upper division; Brotherhood, a hip-hop act in the Upper Team category; Vivian Ruiz, a contemporary dancer in the Junior division; The Untouchables, a ballroom act representing the Junior Team category; Ashley & Zack, a contemporary duo in the Upper division; and The Rock Company, a contemporary group in the Junior Team category.

The competition consists of five rounds -- The Qualifiers, The Duels, The Cut, The Divisional Final and The World Final. The World Final will feature the four division winners going head to head for the $1 million grand prize.

Ne-Yo, Derek and Jennifer individually determine a score for a dance act from 1-20 points in each of the following five categories: Performance, technique, choreography, creativity, and presentation.

In The Qualifiers round, the highest score a dance act can receive is 100 points from the judging panel; however, a total score of 80 points or higher is required for a dance act to move on to the next round.

DNA, who came back from last season with an "even more amazing" routine, according to Jennifer, received a total average score of 87.7 points after receiving 85 points from Ne-Yo, 89 points from Jennifer, and 89 points from Derek.

Brotherhood utilized a prop with excellence, but something was missing or lacking for Jennifer, so the judges advised the group to keep pushing themselves.

With that being said, Brotherhood earned 85 points from Derek, 81 points from Ne-Yo, and 75 points from Jennifer for a total average score of 80.3 points.

Vivian Ruiz was a little off-balance in her performance, but Ne-Yo said he could feel her genuine sorrow and pain through her dance. Vivian racked in a total average score of 83 points after Ne-Yo gave her 83 points, Jennifer scored her 84 points, and Derek gave her 82 points.

The Untouchables were told by the panel of judges they having "the makings of something really exciting and different," although the choreography was a bit chaotic.

The Untouchables advanced to "The Duels" with a total average score of 88.7 points -- 87 points from Ne-Yo, 89 points from Jennifer, and 90 points from Derek.

Ashley & Zack danced a sensual routine that was not raunchy, and the judges agreed it was tastefully done. The pair also sold the idea they are a dating couple, even though they are just friends. Jennifer also complimented their precision but advised them to be more careful with their song choice.

Ashley & Zack earned 84 points from Ne-Yo and Jennifer as well as 87 points from Derek for a total average score of 85 points.

And The Rock Company performed a "powerful" piece in honor of the recent Las Vegas shooting. The young girls showed true artistry, technique and emotion that's beyond their years. Jennifer noted they represent "the magnificence of dancers."

Derek added the performance was "special, magical and perfection." The group received 97 points from both Ne-Yo and Jennifer in addition to 96 points from Derek, which gave them a grand total score of 96.7 points.

Another dance group called St Kingz in the Upper division unfortunately did not make the cut. The urban dance group spent too much time in character and didn't give the judges enough dance and choreography.
