Colton will be starring in Coming Out Colton, which debuts Friday, December 3 on Netflix, and a trailer of the new series was released on Monday and shows Colton admitting he had put Cassie "through hell" during his coming-out journey, which concluded with Colton publicly announcing he's gay in April.

"Cassie really just wants to move past any drama having to do with Colton. She's being roped back into all this Colton mess because of the Netflix show," a source told The New York Post's Page Six.

Cassie is allegedly frustrated her tumultuous history with Colton is going to be rehashed on TV.

"There are a lot of bad memories associated with the end of their relationship and she wishes there was a way to completely separate herself from his narrative," the source said.

Colton, 29, says in the trailer, "The reason I'm coming out is because I'm ashamed and sort of mortified for what got me to this position in the first place. I put a poor girl through hell of my own insecurities."

The former The Bachelor star's father Scott Underwood tells his son, "She filed a restraining order against you. You went off the rails."

And a pal appears to scold the former pro football player for his bad behavior and poor treatment of Cassie.

"What you put her through was bullsh-t," the man complains.

Colton, who sheds some tears in the footage over his past mistakes, also tells his mother Donna Underwood, "I was starting to hurt other people outside of just myself."

The source told Page Six, "It's nice to see that he appears genuinely sorry -- and it's comforting to know that his friends and family are holding him accountable for everything he did to Cassie."

Colton gave Cassie his final rose on The Bachelor's 23rd season, which filmed in late 2018 and aired in early 2019. The pair dated for about 18 months and discussed getting engaged before announcing their breakup in May 2020.

What started out as an amicable split turned nasty when Cassie accused Colton of trying to "monetize" their breakup as well as stalking and harassing her, which resulted in Cassie filing a restraining order against the former NFL player in September 2020 followed by a police report several weeks later.

Colton allegedly put a tracking device on Cassie's car, sent her "unsettling" text messages, and would stand outside her apartment or her parents' house very late at night.

Colton later told multiple press outlets Cassie ultimately dropped the restraining order after they were able to reach an agreement in private that addressed Cassie's concerns.

Colton first came out as gay, publicly, on Good Morning America in April after his devastating breakup with Cassie, who allegedly had no idea Colton was gay during their entire year-and-a-half romance.

The source noted it's a "complicated situation" for Cassie and she worries how she's going to be portrayed on Coming Out Colton; however, she's thrilled Colton may be able to help other people hiding their sexuality in fear of not being accepted.

"At her core, Cassie supports Colton telling his story if that helps him and other people in the LGBTQIA+ community," the source explained to Page Six.

"The part that sucks is that there's really no way for him to tell his story without mentioning their breakup."

Colton previously said in the press that he went through a very dark time following his split with Cassie and even attempted suicide one evening.

But Colton is now reportedly dating political strategist Jordan C. Brown, and Cassie moved on with musician Brighton Reinhardt.

"Cassie couldn't be happier and is thriving in her love life. Brighton is such a great boyfriend and she is grateful to have found love with him even after all the trouble she experienced with Colton and The Bachelor," the source shared.

"Having Brighton by her side certainly makes this Netflix stuff easier to deal with."

Cassie has remained quiet about Colton's new journey, but she thanked fans for their "kind comments and messages" in a YouTube video she had posted to her channel in April.

"I'm not going to be further discussing it or commenting on it for now," Cassie said of Colton's coming out.

"There's a lot of layers to it, and I just think the best thing for me at this time is to move forward and just focus on going forward."

Colton previously said he realized he was different at the age of six and came to the conclusion he's gay when he was a freshman in high school.

Colton said he hated himself "for a long time" and was "a miserable person living as a shell of a human being" while pretending to be straight for well over a decade.

Colton even appeared on three seasons of The Bachelor franchise in which he dated women on television: The Bachelorette 14 starring Becca Kufrin, Bachelor in Paradise 5 when he dated Tia Booth, and his own edition of The Bachelor in 2019.

The trailer of Coming Out Colton also features Colton reconnecting with Onyeka Ehie, who competed on his The Bachelor season.

After Colton came out as gay in April, Onyeka praised him on social media and was very supportive of his coming out.

However, an insider told Page Six that most of the women who appeared on The Bachelor 23 are "unequivocally Team Cassie."

"The collective attitude among the girls of Season 23 is that they're happy for Colton but are more concerned about Cassie in this situation," the insider said.

"There is concern among Bachelor Nation about how Colton's show is going to make her feel. They want her to feel supported as it plays out."

After coming out as gay on GMA, Colton revealed to Variety he had experimented sexually with men prior to appearing on Becca's season of The Bachelorette in 2018, which preceded his The Bachelor stint.

Colton disclosed that he had a few sexual encounters with men when he was in his twenties but never had sex with a man or woman prior to his time on The Bachelor franchise.

"When I say 'hookups,' not sex," confirmed Colton, who had met these men under a false name in 2016 or 2017 through Grindr, a gay dating app. "I want to make that very clear that I did not have sex with a man, prior to that."

In special GMA footage that aired April 15 on ABC's Nightline, Colton revealed that he hadn't spoken to Cassie "at all" about his decision to come out as gay.

"I don't know if I ever will get the chance to sit down and talk with her. I would like to," Colton said. "I would like to say sorry for how things ended. I messed up. I made a lot of bad choices."

He continued, "I made mistakes at the end of that relationship and I ruined the good memories we had by my actions and what I did to hold on to being straight because I didn't want to look myself in the mirror. So for that, I'm extremely, extremely sorry."

Despite being attracted to men during the course of their relationship, Colton confirmed he was definitely in love with Cassie, which made acknowledging he's gay and his decision to come out to his family, friends and the public even "harder and more confusing" for him.

"If I'm being very honest, I loved everything about her and it's hard for me to articulate what my emotions were in going through that relationship with her because I obviously had an internal fight going on," Colton explained on GMA.

"I would just say that I'm sorry from the bottom of my heart. I'm sorry for the pain and emotional stress I caused. I wish it wouldn't have happened the way it did."

Colton added, "I wish I would have been courageous enough to fix myself before I broke anybody else... Do I regret handling [The Bachelor] the way that I did? I do. I do think I could've handled it better... I just wish I didn't drag people into my own mess of figuring out who I was."
