Sci Fi Channel has announced Scare Tactics' third season will premiere Wednesday, July 9 at 10PM ET/PT with two back-to-back half-hour episodes of the hidden-camera reality series that petrifies the pants off of unsuspecting victims.

Hosted by former Saturday Night Live cast member and current 30 Rock star Tracy Morgan, the show will follow a similar format to its first two editions -- with friends and family members of an unsuspecting victim helping to set-up up an elaborately staged scary situation, complete with movie-style special effects and makeup.

Each Scare Tactics segment ends with the hoax being revealed to the victim, and while home viewers may find the frightening funny, those being scared-stiff almost assuredly do not.

Sci Fi Channel renewed Scare Tactics for a third season in March -- more than four years after its last original episode aired.

Scare Tactics 22-episode first premiered in April 2003 and was hosted by former Beverly Hills 90210 actress Shannen Doherty.  Actor and recent The Celebrity Apprentice candidate Stephen Baldwin then hosted the show's 22-episode second season, with its last original episode airing in December 2004.

Scare Tactics third-season episodes will be preceded by new Ghost Hunters International first-season episodes, which will air in the Wednesdays at 9PM ET/PT time slot beginning July 9.

Scare Tactics is produced by Hallock & Healey Entertainment, with the show's creators Scott Hallock and Kevin Healey serving as executive producers.
