Phillips -- the winner of American Idol's eleventh season who has hits under his belt like "Home" and "Gone, Gone, Gone" -- will join the franchise's other 13 winners on Thursday night's April 7 finale at 8PM ET/PT on Fox.

Fox previously announced American Idol's farewell season will wrap with a three-night, star-studded event this week. The network had revealed that when the last Idol is crowned on April 7, all of the show's former champions would be in attendance except for Phillips. Why the singer and songwriter was not originally participating is unclear.

The three-night event begins Tuesday, April 5 at 8PM ET/PT with a retrospective special dubbed American Idol: American Dream in which viewers will soak in a 90-minute look back at the franchise's memorable 14 years on the air.

Idol's two-part finale will then begin with a performance show on Wednesday, April 6 from 8-9PM ET/PT when Trent Harmon, La'Porsha Renae and Dalton Rapattoni will sing one last time for home viewer votes. The April 7 grand finale will air live from the Dolby Theatre from 8-10PM ET/PT.
