Liz Sandoz and The Bachelor star Nick Viall's relationship didn't end abruptly due to their past, according to host Chris Harrison.

Nick eliminated Liz right in the middle of a group date after she divulged personal details of their past hookup in front of other women at The Museum of Broken Relationships in Los Angeles.

Liz recalled not wanting to take her short-lived romance with Nick to the next step because she had been hurt before. She wished, however, he had fought harder for her after Jade Roper and Tanner Tolbert's wedding. Liz's message seemed straight from the heart, but the skit was real and raw enough to leave Nick speechless.

It also didn't take Nick long to discover Liz had told Christen Whitney about their one-night stand.

"I understand that it would be nearly impossible to live in a house full of women who are also dating Nick and not tell any of them about your previous experience with him, but needless to say, it didn't go well," Chris wrote in his Yahoo! TV blog.

Nick questioned whether Liz had told any of the other bachelorettes about their fling. While he wanted to be upfront and honest with the women he was dating, Nick also worried such a disclosure might lead to someone dumping him.

"Nick was in a tough spot: On the one hand, he didn't want to tell people about Liz's private business, but on the other hand, he didn't want to deceive any of the other women. He never lied to them, but omission itself can feel dishonest," Chris explained.

"Thankfully, Christen was upfront and honest with Nick and let him know that the cat was out of the bag. By doing this, Nick was free to address any potential rumors."

But before Nick addressed a group of bachelorettes about the sexual encounter, he sent Liz packing, and she didn't expect it at all.

"I really don't think it had anything to do with their past," Chris insisted.

After all, Liz's mere presence on the group date appeared to make Nick feel uneasy and nervous. He also told the cameras that Liz didn't have a good enough reason or explanation for appearing on The Bachelor after not contacting him for nine months.

"Their conversation that night and the weirdness of the day cemented something for Nick: while there was a past with Liz, there was no future," Chris wrote in his blog.

"I think in some ways the strength of his [one-on-one] date with [Danielle Maltby] made him confident about his chances to find someone, and he no longer felt like Liz was a viable option."

Monday night's The Bachelor broadcast ended on a cliffhanger, with Nick telling some of the women on the group date about his history with Liz. Their jaws dropped open in shock.

"Telling the other women what had happened with Liz was obviously something Nick felt like he had to do, but boy was it uncomfortable," Chris confessed.

"And the women at this point don't really know the whole story. Next week, we will see more about how the remaining women respond to this new information, and of course the dates will continue. I promise you that we are just getting started. Bachelor Nation, you have no idea what you're in for."
