Kim Kardashian's surrogate wasn't invited to her baby shower this past weekend, but the Keeping Up with the Kardashians star has a good reason for that.

Kim announced on Wednesday she's expecting a baby girl with husband Kanye West via surrogate, and days earlier, on November 11, the 37-year-old reality TV star threw a tea-party themed baby shower at her home complete with an adorable cherry-blossom forest.

One important guest, however, was missing at the shower -- the woman carrying Kim's third child.

"I, um, I did not [invite the surrogate]," Kim said on The Real on Thursday.

"I did introduce her to my family. I introduced her to my family earlier that day. And, you know, I just thought, I don't know, it was like a weird decision to have to make. Of course, I would've wanted her to be there and be a part of it, but I hadn't really gone that far in explaining it to my kids yet."

Kim continued, "So I have to figure that out first before they really see, and then if we're celebrating, you know, her, I just want to celebrate the baby. I think I have to explain it to my kids first and figure out how I'm going to explain it to them."

Kim made it clear she has a wonderful relationship with the surrogate and their dynamic had nothing to do with the unidentified woman's absence from the baby bash.

"I love her," Kim said, according to E! News. "I have the best relationship with my surrogate. She's so nice. She is the perfect person to do this for my family. She's great. She's been amazing."

In a shocking revelation, Kim told the ladies on The Real that the surrogate had no idea she'd be carrying Kim and Kanye's baby in the beginning.

"You could do it totally anonymously," Kim reportedly said.

"You could go that route and I just felt like I wanted whoever's carrying my baby, like, what if they weren't a fan of me or my husband? And what if they didn't want to be carrying our baby? I wanted to give them that choice and be like, proud and on the same page. I wanted a relationship with her."

Kim disclosed that once the surrogate found out she'd be giving birth to North and Saint's little sibling, she was "really excited."

"She was, you know, someone that had watched the show, not like a Super Fan or anything, that it would have been uncomfortable, but she had seen my struggle and seen how open I was about it. So she was really proud to do it and really excited," she said, E! News reported.

Kim felt the need to hire a surrogate after having two high-risk, life-threatening pregnancies with her daughter and son.

With North, Kim had the condition called pre-eclampsia, and then after the delivery, her placenta stayed attached to the inside of her uterus, which is known as placenta accreta.

After two surgeries to remove a leftover piece of placenta and then remove scar tissue, Kim struggled to conceive Saint.

While pregnant and in labor with Saint, Kim reportedly suffered similar complications. Kim later had a third surgery to repair her uterus so she could hopefully carry Baby No. 3, but the procedure was unsuccessful.

"I really didn't have a choice. I, at this point, couldn't get pregnant and we wanted to expand our family. So the fact that that is something that you can do -- and it's really taboo to talk about and people don't really understand it, I mean, even throwing my baby shower, do I a baby shower? What do I do?" Kim reportedly explained.

"I thought I wanted to because I wanted North to experience a party, like, 'Something's coming, someone's coming. We're going to welcome our little sister. [She's] coming.' So I think that... that really like got everyone in the mood. But there are no rules."

Kim doesn't understand what she is supposed to do or avoid in the situation of having a surrogate, but she's doing the best she can.

"What are the rules? There are no rules and I'm trying to figure it out. But I thought I'd want to be open about my experience because it's what I'm going through," Kim said, according to the website.

"I was in the mindset of, 'I'm not going to do a baby shower.' And all of a sudden, like five days before the baby shower, I was like, 'I have to do it.' Cherry blossoms, it's what I wanted. We had to rent off these cherry blossoms. They pulled it off in four or five days... and it was so beautiful. It was just a tea [party] for my friends... I'm so glad that I did it."

Kim also disclosed on The Real that four-year-old North is "so excited" about the new baby and the fact she's a girl, but the Keeping Up with the Kardashians star fears Saint, who turns 2 next month, "is going to have a harder time with it."

"I don't know why," Kim noted of her gut feeling. "I hope he doesn't."

Kylie Jenner and Khloe Kardashian are also reportedly going to become mothers. Kylie is allegedly expecting a baby girl with boyfriend Travis Scott, while Khloe is rumored to be pregnant with boyfriend Tristan Thompson's son.
