Hough's self-titled debut sales number also represents the highest country debut for any new artist since 2006.

"Country music has always been my passion," said Hough. "Having the opportunity to make a record in Nashville and then getting to share that with the world is beyond my wildest imagination."

The two-time Dancing with the Stars mirror ball trophy winner finished third on the week's overall The Billboard 200.  Two other new releases -- 3 Doors Down's "Seventeen Days, which sold 154,000 copies, and rapper Bun B's "II Trill, which moved 98,000 copies -- took the top two spots, according to Nielsen SoundScan data.

In addition, Hough's single "That Song In My Head" climbed three spots from No. 32 to No. 29 on Billboard's Hot Country Songs chart.

"There are so many people to thank for helping me achieve this dream," said Hough. "From my family, the writers and musicians, and to everyone at Dancing with the Stars."

Hough revealed she signed with Universal Music Group Nashville immediately following her Dancing with the Stars fifth-season victory last fall with celebrity partner Helio Castroneves.

She spent mid-December in Nashville recording tracks for the album while also participating in various stops on the Dancing with the Stars - The Tour.  She was partnered with comedian Adam Carolla for Dancing with the Stars recently concluded sixth season, in which the couple placed ninth.

Hough sang the national anthem at Sunday's Indianapolis 500 and is scheduled to participate in Brad Paisley's 42-date "The Paisley Party" tour, which kicks off June 11.
